eTrex Touch 35 + Garmin Connect

I just received an eTrex Touch 35 as a gift and want to use it for geocaching.

I have noticed that the maps and geocaches on my I-phone using the geocaching.com app are a) more detailed and B) more prolific [my iphone shows many more nearby geocaches than the etrex].

Question: Is there a way to transfer at least some of the geocache locations from my phone / the app to the GPS?

Thanks,

sean

To my knowledge, no, you cannot interface between the GPS and the iPhone like that.

Garmin's iPhone "apps" are pretty limited. For example, you can send/receive a waypoint to your phone via Bluetooth, but that's about it.

Your best method would be to use the Pocket Query feature of the GC website, and put them on your eTrex Touch 35.

The 250000 caches on the etrex are just a sample for people to try. Full time geocachers need to delete them off (in the ggz folder) and add their own via PQ. You can convert them into Garmins GGZ format in GSAK which means you can add a lot more than you can in the gpx format that the PQ's come in.

And to fully answer the original question, it is technically possible to transfer caches from the phone to the GPS, but it requires more hardware and is somewhat involved. There are threads around describing the methods, if it is of interest.
