Keystone
This is a local phenomenon in your home area. In connection with an annual event, people hide caches themed to the event. For more information, read here. Quote Link to comment
+noncentric
It looks like those caches were placed in connection with an annual event that is called HAG. The caches that have "HAG XI" would've been placed for the 11th HAG event (XI = 11 in roman numerals). I'm not sure what HAG actually stands for and I'm not finding this info on the HAG page. Looks like HAG stands for Hide-and-Go. Here is the website: http://hagcaching.cachemania.ca/ Edited April 30, 2016 by noncentric Quote Link to comment

We used to have a caching group not too far away. Hags. Think the name alone might of helped in disbanding. Quote Link to comment

+The A-Team
i am not new...but for the life of me i can not figure out why almost all geocache names have HAG in them....please put my mind at ease...tell me what this means =) As the others helpfully posted, it stands for "Hide-and-Go", as in "hide and go caching". It's an annual event held for the last 12 years where cachers on Vancouver Island hide caches late in the year and into January, and then they all get published on the first Saturday of February. A month later in early March, we all get together at the 6 Mile Pub for the "HAG Bash" and awards are handed out in various categories. It had grown so much in recent years (642 caches in 2015) that the reviewers asked that it be scaled back and there were about 150 caches this year. Quote Link to comment
