knowschad
Loading Cache Logs... Four minutes, and counting... still no logs. Edit: They are showing now. I see that you got rid of the alternated shading on the logs (fine with me... it didn't match the width of the text anyway). Other than that, I don't see what's different about the logs. +MastahMatt
I'm not seeing the you found it notice on caches I've found anymore. I saw mention that this was 'replaced', but it wasn't missing for me before, and now it seems to be. Also don't like the way cache logs load when you scroll down in Firefox. It's....distracting... Everything else looks good though. Thanks! Link to comment
+casymator
Updated Cache Details page gallery to include images from cache page for what reason is this? i know a mystery where the second pic, which was uploaded but not used in the cache listing is necessary to solve a riddle. now it is shown in the listing as a thumb pic and the cacher can see it on first sight? why? for what reason? and more: u put up more thumbs for mobile devices? for more traffic? or for what? furthermore: who cares about the background pic as a thumb in the new gallery.... can´t understand this "update" ....... Added Tabs for viewing your logs; your friend's logs or just all logs. Really? where did you hide the tabs? There's a new "View Logs" link ummmm.... above the logs. The tabbed log interface is a nice substitude for the VIP List Greasemonkey script. Problem is, the Friends have to be friends through the site, and not just a list that I decide to create. I know many people (including myself) that have the Friends Requests turned off. Could use some formatting improvements in the way the logs display on those pages, at least under Firefox, though. ETA: or worse, click a link and then click the largest numbered box, read ten or so logs, click next highest numbered box, repeat until done. The friends logs tab might actually be useful. +MastahMatt
Ok, I figured out why the "You found it on..." note is not appearing on some caches. I'm ONLY seeing this if a user is actually watching the cache. Since the 'watch' notice appears in the same box, I'm thinking that the code behind the site is hiding the entire box when there are no watchers for a cache. Unfortunately, the 'you found it on' notice is actually in this box, so it's not showing up if the number of cache watchers is 0. Not a big thing, especially in light of the eternal spinning wait icon some are getting, but I thought I'd mention it. Link to comment

+EdrickV
The new tabbed stuff is accessed via the "View Logbook" link. For anyone getting an endless "loading cache pages" message, try refreshing the page or close it and re-open it. I had that on my first attempt at looking at a cache after this update, but since then it's been working. (Note that this happens per browser, so if you use multiple computers/devices, you'll have to refresh once in each browser, after that it seems to work.) Opera Mobile 10 for Pocket PC devices still works on the site, though as mentioned I did have to refresh the page, the first time, to get logs loading. Have not tested (and won't be testing) Opera Mini for Java, but I'd try refreshing if the logs don't show up. Link to comment

TownCat
Great... I checked a cache I found that did not have a watch on it and no confirmation of a find. I then put a watch on the cache and got the find list. Took the watch off and the find confirmation disappeared. One has to wonder if the lackeys take a minute or two consider what they are implementing, it sure does not seem like it. It also seems painfully obvious they do not do any peer code review or ask the question of what else is impacted by this change. I don't know, maybe the code they have is written by the flying spaghetti monster and it is impossible to review. Link to comment

The only caches I see "You found it on" are those that have at least one watcher. Good catch! Forgot to mention this above, but I guess it's just as well. This behavior is confirmed here as well. No "You logged this as found" message if the cache isn't being watched. For more technical details, see below. Both items are part of a "StatusInformationWidget" class division. On a page without anyone watching, that division is not present at all which is why the "You logged this as found" message does not show up. Somewhere in the code that creates the pages there is apparently a check to determine whether to show that division or not, and apparently it's only criteria is whether the cache is being watched or not. So that now needs and And/Or with both the "is watched" and "has been found" type flags. (It could be a "watchers > 0" type flag too, but the same basic idea applies.) Link to comment
+monsterbox
Hi! [*]Add Paging to logs on Geocache Listings - Revamped the way logs are displayed on the Cache page. Added Tabs for viewing your logs; your friend’s logs or just all logs. That doesn't work well for me :-( Windows 7 x64, IE9: 1. If I want to all the logs it needs forever as I alway have to do PageDown until I finally reach the end of the logs which might last some time. Ctrl-End also doesn't really help :-( The old "Show all logs" link simply would be highly appreciated! 2. The tab view looks completely ugly now. Formatting is broken. I do have this tab view and each log first shows the cacher with avatar and find count and BELOW that there's this vertical ruler and the log. To the right there's another ruler going all the way down and on top of that there's the log date and the "View Log" link. Maps: The Beta map still sucks (Pocket Queries are unusable and the new icons are hard to see). The old map also is close to unusable since one of the last updates as filtering doesn't work any longer :-( PLEASE fix this instead of introducing new stuff! Page width: We still got stuck with these narrow pages :-( My 2 screens are 2560*1600 each and I only can make use of less than half of them :-( Challenges: As I don't care about them I don't care what has been done there ;-) Gallery Images: If I want to view the gallery images I need to do this one by one. I can't just click onto a pic to get to the next or previous one as I can with the ones from a single log. Bye, Christian Link to comment
+lodgebarn
So are you in league with ISPs and mobile phone companies. Do you have any idea how many megabytes are being downloaded for caches with many logs. Do you really think we need to see all logs by default even those from 8 or 9 years ago. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE revert to showing the top 5 logs AND DO IT QUICKLY. I thought the previous few updates were awful but this come pretty close. Link to comment

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE revert to showing the top 5 logs AND DO IT QUICKLY. I thought the previous few updates were awful but this come pretty close. The logs are loaded on demand. By default (when you don't scroll down to them), none of them are loaded. OIC, thanks for the clarification. A bit like Schrodinger's Cat though due to all the previous enhancements you have to scroll to see any logs at all so I have no easy way of knowing whether data is being downloaded or not! knowschad
2. The tab view looks completely ugly now. Formatting is broken. I do have this tab view and each log first shows the cacher with avatar and find count and BELOW that there's this vertical ruler and the log. To the right there's another ruler going all the way down and on top of that there's the log date and the "View Log" link. Shift-reload, or browser restart, as after every site update. That fixed the display issue for me (Firefox user). Seems odd to have to refresh a brand-new page, but it worked. Link to comment
+dfx
That fixed the display issue for me (Firefox user). Seems odd to have to refresh a brand-new page, but it worked. That's because not the page itself is the culprit, but rather (one of) the linked CSS documents, and that's the same for all pages. Link to comment
