Garmin Etrex 10 Please help!

I'm getting "memory full" message and I can't connect it to a computer. I receive message that it needs a format. I've reseted it, but it didn't help.

I'm able to change to mass storage format, but I'm still getting "You need to format the disk before you can use it" message from Windows. Tried on MAC to - same results - can't access files. Please help!

What will happen if I do the format? Will it erase just user files?

Whatever you do, DON'T format if you don't have a copy of the original Gps files.

 

If the Gps is really corrupt now, you need Garmin support anyway.

Thanks! Other then "memory full" issue GPS seems to work. Where can I get the original files? Can anybody share?

Really, the best thing to do is call Garmin, it's free, they will have lots experience of fixing this and they will be able to tell you where to get the files from if it proves necessary, whereas we're all speculating based on our experiences. If you do the wrong thing you could end up turning it into an expensive paper weight.

I'm not from US. It won't be free and probably cost will be same as buying a new one (or close). I've original files now - I've found them on the internet. What can I do now?

There are hidden files that you can't access. Garmin can access the device remotely and upload the correct files. There should be no cost.

I don't think so. He said cost will be the same as buying a new one. Calling to a US phone over the net is 2 cents per minute or $3 per month for unlimited.

Thank you. I did format the unit and restored files with WebUpdater (now I can access the unit as USB memory), but still getting "memory full". I've contacted Garmin support email and waiting for answer. Can I do anything else?

Delete something... Start from scratch. Delete any/all files you have loaded. If you are on a Mac -empty the trash/bin, before you disconnect.

 

The 10 does not have much memory to start with, what are you trying to load?

And how are you trying to load it?
