+TheWeatherWarrior
There is two phases to this thread. First will be reminding folks to contact their local (and national) media outlets to get the word out about these awesome events that help give back to the environment in which we play. Give suggestions, and tell us who you have contacted. The second phase will be when those articles come out and post links. Don't forget to get those Behind-the-scenes photos when media is on site too. Quote Link to comment
+Treknschmidt
Is it necessary? We are about to host our 9th CITO event, we have had newspaper, magazine and TV crews in past events. I no longer allow media, I find it causes a distraction at the event and we don't accomplish as much. Sure it's nice to be recognized for doing good, but if you are going to CITO just for media attention you are doing it for the wrong reasons IMO. Quote Link to comment

Not a distraction at all if done right (discuss/interview before the actual event, only allow photography/b-roll taping during the event. Have pre-arranged people to talk with the media outlets you invite. Not everyone is media savvy and that is fine, but it tends to work out great for such events. Quote Link to comment
