+FourFunKiwis
We've got a mega IN our closest city this year, which is pretty darn exciting! Do you need to stay on site at a mega to participate? Or can you register and cache etc, but stay at your own choice of accommodation? Does it depend on the event? We'd love to support it and be involved, but the costs of staying on site are hard to justify when we're not that far away anyways.... Quote Link to comment
+Mausebiber
To my best knowledge: For any Event you have physically to be there, no time limit. If you don't like it, 5 minutes are OK, but the purpose of any event is, to meet other Geocacher and have some fun. To log this Event online, you don't even need to sign the logbook at the event, this is optional, but I highly recommend to sign it anyway to proof you have been there. Again, no time limit, no need to stay overnight, just go and enjoy as long as you like. Happy Caching Mausebiber Quote Link to comment

Assuming that it's http://coord.info/GC587BC NZ MEGA Christchurch 2015 I recommend reading all the information on the listing and on the MEGA website: http://www.nzmega2015.com/ You should post a "will attend" and register. Accommodation...I don't think you need to stay onsite. You could find alternative accommodations. It's probably best if you direct questions to the organizers to be sure. B. Quote Link to comment
+Sapience Trek
It's probably best if you direct questions to the organizers to be sure. The event organizers have no say on where you must stay, if you are staying at all. As stated earlier, if you are physically in attendance it doesn't matter if you were there 30 seconds or all day. You don't have to participate in all the activities (or any!) to be able to log an attend. Though of course you probably would want to! Quote Link to comment
