+Dora the Explorer!
When I am out doing a multi cache, i put in the next set of coordinates. Then all i get is a line showing on the map to the next co ordinates. How do i get the gps to show me how far it is or put a compass on the gps like it does on the geo cache dashboard. I am going to thailand and malaysia sshortly. What sort of map do i need to download? Will a street map do? Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
When I am out doing a multi cache, i put in the next set of coordinates. Then all i get is a line showing on the map to the next co ordinates. How do i get the gps to show me how far it is or put a compass on the gps like it does on the geo cache dashboard. When navigating to a waypoint (after you press Go and you see that line on the map), switch to the Compass. There should be a "dashboard" at the top with four data fields, and if not, long-press the dashboard and select "Small Data Fields". Short-press each data field. In the first, select Navigation/"Waypoint at Destination". In the 2nd, select Navigation/"Distance to Next". The last two may be "Location of Destination" and "Time of Day", but try some fields and see what you like. For reference, you can see a small data field dashboard on the compass screen, near the bottom of this page: http://www.letsgomob.../garmin-dakota/ If you prefer just one big distance indicator on the Compass screen, long-press the dashboard and select "Large Data Field", then short-press and select Navigation/"Distance to Next". You'll see the compass for bearing, and the distance. The "Geocaching Dashboard" looks cool, but is not practical for many caching purposes (especially Multis). I have the "Small Data Fields" on map and compass screens, and populate those dashboards with the four most useful items for each screen. Edited May 17, 2015 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
