+Drumsandspace
My Garmin eTrex 20 was working fine one morning when I decided to load some caches. I loaded about 10 caches from the Geocaching.com website using my Apple MacBook Air with no error messages. I disconnected the GPSr from the computer after dragging the icon to the trash. After that, I powered on the GPSr to check the battery life and the unit wouldn't power up properly. It hangs with a message saying "loading waypoints, tracks, and routes..." and then shuts down after about 10 seconds. No icon appears on my computer desktop when I connect the USB cable. I tried a hard reboot as recommended by someone on a Garmin forum by holding the menu and joystick button while starting up, but I got the same result. There is no SD card in the eTrex 20. Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment
+GeoTrekker26
When you do as sussamb suggests insert new batteries instead of using the old ones. I've had the same behavior when I tried to restart with near dead batteries. Quote Link to comment
+HHL
Try this instead: The eTrex needs this procedure: Power on while holding joystick up to force USB mass storage mode. When in USB mass storage mode: delete the bad gpx files and restart the unit. Hans Quote Link to comment
