FOUND UNKNOWN TRAVELBUG!

We were out for a walk when we stumled across a geocache that wasn't on the map/list of geocaches. When we looked inside there was a travel bug with no code.On the front it says making tracks with a red stripe that has tire tracks, foot prints and a x on it. We were wondering how could we identify this travel bug without a code.

What exactly is it - a coin, a toy with a tag? Coins have codes on the edge sometimes.

Also - this geocache that wasn't 'on the map/list' - does it have a name? Can you look it up and work out what the 'trackable' is.

And for all intents and purposes, a trackable without a number is no longer trackable..... and has become swag....

Can you post a photo of the object?

"Making tracks travel tags, designed to attach to an object to track the movements on geocaching.com - each one comes with a unique tracking number so you can follow their travels and share their adventures".

In red, blue, black, and green...

- Found no further product description or reviews, but the "making tracks" design is supposed to be on a name tag too.

Seems to be a dog tag-like metal tag, but don't see geocaching.com or logo on front anywhere, and with no "blurred-out" pics of the back, not sure whether it's trackable here or not. :)

I found this on Google. At least some of these kinds of tags have a code stamped on the back, seen along the right edge in the picture.

With more info on the cache that the OP found, we could do a little sleuthing. Writing on the container, or dates & names on the log sheet, cache coordinates, all could help identify the cache, and that might even help identify the tag. A cacher who owns one of these tags might also know more about how the tracking number is inscribed.

These tags seem to be in the OP's area. Just as an example, here's one of the "Making Tracks" tags listed in a local cache: https://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=6851400

I can't tell if it may be the tag that the OP found. The linked tag above seems to have been moved last year and the move wasn't logged. Its TB photo looks rather pink, but the store's photos look red, and they were in one of 4 colors, and not pink.

I found a tag today in a cache that sounds familiar. It is actually attached to a geocoin, which has the tracking number on it. The tag has no tracking code on it but does reference geocaching.com. Maybe you found one half of what used to be something trackable and the part that had the tracking code is now missing.

Here's some photos of the one I found today for reference.
