MtnHermit
I have a 7" Nuvi attached to the 4WD windshield with the factory suction mount. That mount holds to the windshield for 6-months at a time. When it was new the ball & socket were tight and sag free. Now 2-years on a few bumps and the Nuvi is resting on the dash. FWIW: The 7" Nuvis have a unique mounting block which holds the power cable. It allows a cable free detachment of the GPS for storage or portability. Is there a way to tighten the socket? An aftermarket mount with an adjustable socket? Thanks for looking. +searchjaunt
Hi, Have a look at these mounts. I use it for years with different garmin models now and it - it contrary to the standard mounts - fell off. Cheers Eddy Quote Link to comment
alandb
I have read of solutions for this in some other forums. One is to pry out the metal ring in the socket and use a pliers to slightly bend it together to make the diameter slightly smaller, then put it back in the plastic socket. Others have put a small piece of plastc bag or masking tape over the ball before snapping it into the socket. Sometimes if you call Garmin support and describe the problem they will replace the mount for free ... always worth a try. Quote Link to comment
