Pi Day?

To be honest, I have a few two-part coins and pathtag carriers, and I can't say I'm a fan of them so far. They always feel like the two parts don't fit together properly (even though I know they probably do), and like the magnets won't hold and they are about to fall apart (even though I know they probably won't).

I'd personally rather have a decent one-piece coin with great colours and sculpt rather than a two-part coin.

That may just be the ones I've seen so far though. Without knowing how it would actually work in this case, that's all I can say really.

We will be starting the PI day coin Project November 15th. We are hoping for this to be a MEGA PI Day project. What are your thoughts on the 2 part coin? We really like how the 12-13-14 day coin looks with the attachment and really want to know what people feel about that feature.

SEEN HERE:

It really depends on the specific coin design to me and of course the end cost. If a two piece coin becomes too costly for my attendees they may be very awesome but they wouldn't sell.

At "3.5mm" you are saying the diameter will be the same as the thickness ???

Something like a ball bearing then ...

Nevadanick,

We were trying to do something pretty amazing with the Ball Bearing Pi Day Coin concept but can't figure out how to add GLOW to the coin. :) So we are playing around with the size a little. We will probably work out more like a 2 Inch Coin. Good eye.

We will be getting the Ultra Pi Day coin started after Thanksgiving. We are still working on a few details, but I think the coin will look amazing. We are in the middle of getting the 12-13-14 coins out this weekend and will get the Pi day coin ready to go live next week.

Great! Can't wait. :)

Are these sort of group coins always a minimum order of 50? I've not done one before.

Also, is there any estimate for how much mailing 50 coins to the UK or Europe would be? I know it would have to be worked out individually for each order, but even a vague idea would be useful.

I'm trying to work out if I can afford this...

If I can't afford to get my own version made, would there be a GeoSwag version that event owners could just buy a few of to have at an event? It would be nice to at least have 5 or 10 if I can't afford a whole 50.

Any explanation on how to fill out this form? I'm new to this.

The coin diagram has 17 numbers with 12 having a A, B and C. The form only goes to 12(including the A, B and C). So 13-17 are set for us already?

Anywhere we can see our color scheme? Or is it just in your head?

And regular PMS color. Where are they charted at? I see the translucents, pearl and the glitter.

I'll be running an event in London, UK.

I really wanted to be in on this and make a personal coloured Pi coin, but there's no way I can afford (or sell) the 50 coin minimum. If we could do it in a smaller minumium (15, 20, or 25), I'd be able to do it, but 50 just isn't doable.

Do you know any cachers in a nearby city who would be interested in hosting an event that you could split an order with? When I held my 12-12-12 event I split an order with another cacher hosting an event about an hour away. You may also ask Oakcoins if it's possible to have a single order shipped to two locations if you partner with someone farther away. An auction I saw on Ebay for one of the 12-13-14 coins (search for auction 271707740718) made it look like Ontario and Texas events split a coin order.

Don't know if it is intentional or not, (perhaps to avoid such date-writing differences) but it seems they've left off mention of the date entirely.

Adding 2015 at least would be great ... unless they plan on using the same art and dies for the following year/s and just changing colors. That seems to be a trend lately.

I would be up for taking 5 off someone's hands for our 3-14 event. No way we can handle or get rid of 50. We just don't have that kind of coin demand here.

But - only if the date '2015' is added somewhere on the coin.

Agreed - I would have liked it to say "Pi Day 2015" on it somewhere on it too. Leaving the date off so that there's no international differences is a good idea though.

I will certainly have 5 available for you if you decide you want them. I too would like to see 2015 on the coin.
