Lottiev12
Hi there. I have been looking for places to hide a cache for a while, but all of my places either seem too obvious or to hard, like hiding it in a hedge or a wall where the cache can be seen by muggles. i am not sure wether I should put in it a bag and hang it in a tree one of my favourite walks. what do you think? Any answers would be great! Quote Link to comment

Any answers would be great! Some pretty cool caches are clipped or hanging by wire or rope. One near my home is on a branch that people tend to brush aside while searching . Lots of people will search around the ground or base of trees, and a cache just above eye level remains elusive. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
Sorry, people want to pick my posts in off-topic. I'm not playing the same game I guess... Edited July 31, 2016 by cerberus1 Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
Yeah , anyway... the bag plan needs work. Lets say you're hanging a cache box on a branch. If it's a pill bottle (which I'm not suggesting you use, but if it is), twist a heavy wire around the neck and form a hook for a branch. Or make a loop on the bottle and have the hook attached at one end to the branch, so the loop goes on the hook. Having a set point where the cache is to be returned, keeps it from migrating around the tree. With a small box like a lock-n-lock, wrap it with camo tape, and you can wrap the hook or loop against the box. To get fancy, make a small hole in the box, and attach a threaded eye-loop with nuts and washers, and seal it up water-tight with something like JB weld. Place it out of direct sight from the trail, higher than the eye-level of the average person, yet easy for the less-than-average height person to reach, and you've got a decent placement. No bag needed. Edited August 1, 2016 by kunarion Quote Link to comment
+Arktoi
The #1 way to improve your hiding skills is finding more caches by different folks, so you can see different hiding techniques. It looks like you've found some already, which is great and should help fill in some of the blanks, but it looks like all but one that you've found are difficulties 1-2, so you haven't seen some of the really crazy ones yet. I wouldn't be too worried about making your hides too hard - as long as the difficulty rating reflects how difficult it really is, and as long as you're still abiding by all the geocaching.com rules for hiding a cache.
