+4&1dog
We just switch from windows/pc platform to an iMAC. I am having trouble getting waypoints onto my Garmin unit and I cannot use GSAK. Does anybody have a solution of how to use GSAK and while I am asking map source on an iMAC? I know nothing about bootstrap, jackknife or any of the other program that you can run that allow windows programs to run on IOS. Thanks in advance for your help. Quote Link to comment

Excellent question for the GSAK forum. Quote Link to comment

Thanks in advance for your help. I guess you better learn then. There is a whole forum on using GSAK on MAC over on the GSAK forum as mentioned above. There has been mention of iCaching program which runs on MAC might google that. Id isn't nearly as powerful as GSAK but does get the basics done. Quote Link to comment

Back up your important data before you start the process. Quote Link to comment

You don't think.. or you know? I see no issues on the Mac subforum of GSAK and I'm sure it would have come up if there were problems with USB connections. Quote Link to comment

I wouldn't advice people on today's setup if I had to go back to experiences with Win95. ouch, i don't think i mentioned Windows 95. the actual setup was a dual quad Xeon with more RAM than a wookie could carry in a napsack, running Windows10 (which was terrible) in the vm and mountain lion native... or SuSE, or Debillian, i honestly don't remember. windows 95 is, a little below standard ;-) again, i named one setup that didn't work, and a guaranteed (native) that does, for clarity, not to start a vm war. :-) Quote Link to comment
+NLBokkie
Provided it is set up properly, GSAK on Windows on a (VMware) VM on a Mac works perfectly well. The supposed issue mentioned with USB drivers and emulations doesn't exist - not in my experience anyway. It just works and recognizes all devices I tell the VM to show in Windows no problem. iCaching is an alternative on Mac, but while I have it installed, I've never really used it. So can't compare its functionality to what GSAK can do for you. But depending on what you use GSAK for, I find project-gc.com a better, cheaper and easier to use alternative than GSAK. It's completely web based, so independent from whatever OS you use. It draws its data right from the geocaching.com database, so there is no need for local database management (or any management for this application) either. As long as you have a recent Internet Browser and Internet connection, it works. Works fine on tablets too. Edited August 12, 2016 by NLBokkie Quote Link to comment

This avoids all unmaintained caches that are a waste of my time. i also filter for uncorrected mysteries to see if i want to do them. Will Project-GC do those. Quote Link to comment
+NLBokkie
The Project-GC "Live Map" has a filter to "Exclude not found". I can't see how far that goes back though, to just the last log or the last 3 or 5 or so. Not sure if you will be able to filter for uncorrected mysteries - I never do that and wouldn't know where to start with this in the overload of options. Apart from the very specifics you mention for your queries, I've never felt the need to go back to GSAK once I started digging into my data with Project-GC. My use may be a bit different than yours though. Quote Link to comment
+Walts Hunting
No filter in live map for corrected coprds and even worse no access to ognore list so those show up Quote Link to comment
