Tarryall's Sweet 16 - July 2nd

July 2nd will be 16 years since I placed Tarryall (GC18) for Colorado's first Geocache (actually it was originally known as a "GPS Stash" back then, but that name wasn't felt to be something that would grow the sport / game in good direction... lol). Anyway, for the last few years, I've been meaning to have a "party" of sorts for Tarryall, and I figured a "Sweet 16" for this year could be fun reason, plus Tarryall's birthday is on a Saturday too and basically part of the holiday weekend.

My plan (which could change, but I'm going to try to hold to this) is to get up to Tarryall by 10am, and just hang out for a chunk of the day. I'll bring a cake (or cupcakes, not sure yet, but what's a birthday party without some sort of cake) for anyone that happens to show up that day (whether they know about this or not).

NOTE: there is road construction on Park 77 with long delays from recent logs, (not sure if they are doing that on the weekends though) so plan accordingly. May be better to use Park 31 (dirt / washboard) which comes around to Park 77 to the north of Tarryall, and then come back south to it (but then I'm not even sure where the construction is at right now so that may not be a good option either. If anyone knows for sure, let me know).

We are planning to visit Tarryall on July 1st, on our way from San Diego via Durango. Looks like we may be too early for the festivities, but I'd be really grateful for an update on the construction. I'm not sure our vehicle will be able to handle the washboard road!

I found a map for the bid proposal of the construction. Looks like its right along Park 77 where the parking / turnoff for GC18 is at, and goes right on past where Park 31 comes in, (so taking Park 31 to go around would not work). The road between 31 and 77 is more of a trail than a road (last time I saw it) so not recommended for a car without some clearance and probably 4 wheel drive.

Here's the construction bid with the map showing the 7 miles of 77 that is being worked on. No idea which part is currently being worked on.

Hopefully someone who has been up there this spring can respond (I haven't visited since last year). Also look through the recent logs for Tarryall as a few people have mentioned the construction.

And sorry, but I won't be there until Saturday (July 2nd).
