I want to know if most cachers will actually log photo missions. And what are some favorite missions you have seen? I've just recently been introduced to tb so any info is good! Thanks! My favourite is a geocoin that has the mission to travel only between mystery caches, and has been doing so for several years, which is astounding for a (very nice) geocoin..... Quote Link to comment

I believe most cachers won't. - Rare to see pics on caches today too. I feel you should be tickled whenever someone does include a pic, and leave it at that. Ask for or think you can require it, and you'll probably be disappointed. I'd really like to see more pics of those who insist on "visiting" another's trackable into every cache they find. At least a pic (with the trackable in the shot) sorta shows the TO that person probably still has it. Quote Link to comment

Unfortunate as that was my thing...with pics you could do a scrapbook! So what are some of your favorite things to do with travel bugs...or what missions were you excited to help him achieve? elfre Posted February 20, 2017 Share Posted February 20, 2017 I try to add photos of most of the trackables I handle. Most cachers don't add any photos to geocaching.com except selfies. Interestingly, whenever I see a trackable page asking for photos I usually look at the owner's profile gallery and I've found that very few cachers asking for photos have ever added photos to other people's trackables... ... but haven't let that change the way I choose to play the game. And occasionally I receive lovely "thank you" notes from trackable owners who've seen and appreciated the photos I've added for them. Quote Link to comment

Most people just move bugs without ever knowing their mission, whether or not you attach a physical write-up. One of mine (https://coord.info/TB470WP) has a very specific mission: "Visit each of New York State's 62 counties, then come home." I dropped him into a parking lot cache at the Woodbury Commons mall in Orange County, NY. Four days later, he split; went to Michigan. Check out the results and the map of his travels! Unless the trackable's logged into the cache before we head out, or a mission tag is attached/in a bag, we likely won't know it's "mission" until we're home. Many trackables found today weren't even in the correct cache... Similar to TeamRabbitRun, once home we notice that it's "mission" hasn't been met for some time. If it's possible, we'll try to steer it in its proper direction. Quote Link to comment

Actually I know many cachers who add photos of the landscape and things they see along the way to cache pages. Photos to trackables have become quite rare but I need to say that I even welcome that as it is even more difficult to watch photos posted for trackables than photos posted on the caches one owns. In the early times hardly any photos were geotagged (contained coordinates of the location where they were taken). If people take photos the location of caches with unknown coordinates and upload them with coordinates in the exif information that's very unfortunate. In the early years I sometimes liked to look through the logs for a trackable I was moving along and at that time this could be a pleasant experience. Nowadays with these tons of took to logs and no filter option (which very often has been asked for) to see only the logs with activities it has become something bothersome to do and annoying. I hardly ever now look at anything else than very quickly the mission but of course only back at home when having taken the trackable already with me without knowing its mission. I could leave all trackables where they are but as only a small minority of local cachers moves along trackables (in particular TBs) I conclude that moving the trackable along locally if I cannot help it towards its goal is at least making the trackable move again. elfre Posted March 6, 2017 Share Posted March 6, 2017 This appears to be one of two trackables still logged into an event in the Czech Republic: https://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=6889452 I couldn't work out the "taken" trackable with a geocacher in Ohio as they all seem to be accounted for (allowing for individual people's lives occasionally getting in the way of their geocaching). We have released 25 geocoins, "Taking Flight in.... (add name of State or Country)" they had the goal of staying in that State/Country. Out of those 25 geocoins 22 of them are missing, of the 3 that are still moving only 1 is in the correct State. The State that is doing the best is..... Missouri! Since 2010 it has traveled 18,989.3 miles, while it has left the state of Missouri a few times it has always found its way back! It has been a long time since we have put anymore geocoins in the wild, they don't seem to have a very good survival rate. Quote Link to comment
