Geocache Description:

Saxon Woods CITO

Saxon Woods has lots of nice trails and caches, but also one trail, down by the lake, where piles of trash and discarded plastic bottles make hiking and caching less than pleasant. This Earth Day and CITO Weekend (April 26/27), we will try and clean up a good portion of it. The CITO event idea comes from Geocacher coringa212, a Westchester Parks employee. The event has the okay of the Parks Department, who will provide trash receptacles and some other equipment as needed.

We meet at the parking coordinates / picnic pavillion around 930am on Saturday April 26, and from there move to the cleanup location (N 40°58.250 W 073°44.611) down by the lake, which is about a quarter mile away from the parking lot. Bring sturdy boots that don't mind to get wet and dirty, and bring leather gloves. As per Parks Department guidelines, we will cancel the event in case of severe weather, but a little drizzle won't faze us.

Detail planning is still in progress, eg. we might combine the CITO with a new cache hide or two, or a picnic event (given that we can use the picnic pavillion for the day for free). Hence .. check back for updates!
