Omitting Categories

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I want to try Waymarking this weekend, and I am having a hard time getting a list that I want. Is there a way to omit certain categories? For example, I don't mind going to see a unusual comic book shop, but I don't necessarily need to visit my local Jack in the Box.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply! I did the thumbs down for businesses, and then did the thumbs up for local bookstores and comic book shops, which is why I was wondering if there was a way to streamline it more. When I tried my search again, the fast food chains kept coming up, which isn't an interest of mine.

Maybe they will at PQ's in the future.

My first peek at Waymarking turned up a local Pizza Hut and a phone booth.

I enjoy early American history, so I am quite selective with what I will Waymark. I also enjoy Benchmarking and waymark a few similar boundry disks not listed. I don't know if it's just me, but Waymarking seems to be getting more popular. I select geocache also, I only visit ones that I find interesting. As a cache owner I just don't enjoy the game as much anymore, so Waymarking is filling the void. B)

The other way to streamline it if you want to be more restrictive is to do the following:

Do a search on a location (address, town, whatever)

All the waymarks around that location will be displayed including McDonalds etc (those won't for you as you have already done an ignore on businesses)

Above the list of Waymark you will see the word Categories with a plus sign in front of it. Click the plus sign.

The site will then display a list of categories by major division in order of number of waymarks. You can then click on individual categories or the major division to see the waymarks in each. For example you could click History (a major division) and it will display all the history waymarks or you could click U.S. National Register of Historic Places (a category) which is under History and it will display only those waymarks in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places category.

By following these steps you can target your interests as broad or narrow as you like.
