South Haven area

Greetings from a newbie. I'm in South Haven and have just become interested in geocaching. I went to one event in Lansing and was surprised to learn that there are 'probably' events closer!!!

 

Hubby is not interested but that's ok cuz I need to make some new friends while he does things that interest him more. Anyone local interested in helping a newbie get going? I sure hope we have some events here in southwest Michigan.

While I wouldn't call your area barren of caches, I think you'll find the Coloma, Watervliet, BH/SJ are south have plenty.

Hmmm... comes up proper for me

 

But, finding Events are easy..

 

Use your [local] search function on GC.com opening page;

Near top, click on "Map this Location";

Zoom out just a bit;

If not already visible, on the left boarder (arrow) open the Legend window;

Hide all cache-types except for the Event-type caches;

Close that Legend window;

Any and all caches now displayed are Events.

 

I see additional Events in New Buffalo; Buchanan; 3 north of Holland; 4 in Grandville; Plainwell and Portage.

Not that they are real close to you, but they are opportunities.

Thanks, the link is fine now - probably just a user-error, lol. I attended the Ice Cream Social in Plainwell. Thinking about buying my first handheld gps tomorrow - heading to Grand Rapids for some other events and will probably find some caches while I'm there.
