Caching Songs ?

Recommended Posts

I was just thinking of popular songs with a cachy theme :

How about 'Put the message in box' (I think that's the title) by World party

Put the message in the box

Put the box into the car

Drive the car around the world

Until you get home

Or possibly 'We're on the road to nowhere' by the Talking Heads ?

Any ideas ?

The Closer you get,

The Further I fall,

I'll be over the edge now,

In no time at all.

I,m wathching the screen,

on my new GPS.

It so good to be out West,

I just looked up,

from the screen and then.

I was over the edge

and on my head.

The Closer you got,

The further I fell,

That ammo box,

went down the trail.

It hit the tree ,

and into the rock.

At that very moment

Stunned and amazed

Is when I realized

That

GEOCACHING ROCKS

Stand in the place where you live

Now face north

Think about direction

Wonder why you haven’t

Now stand in the place where you work

Now face west

Think about the place where you live

Wonder why you haven’t before

If you are confused, check with the sun

Carry a compass to help you along

Your feet are going to be on the ground

Your head is there to move you around, so

(repeat chorus)

Your feet are going to be on the ground

Your head is there to move you around

If wishes were trees, the trees would be falling

Listen to reason

Season is calling

(repeat chorus)

My Vote....

Escape Club

I'll Be There

over Mountains

over Trees

over Oceans

over Seas

across the desert

I'll be there

in a whisper on the wind

on the smile of a new friend

just think of me

And I'll be there

Don't be afraid, oh my love

I'll be watching you from above

And I'd give all the world tonight,to be with you

Because I'm on your side,

And I still careI may have died, but I've gone nowhere

Just think of me,

And I'll be there

On the edge of a waking dream

over Rivers

over Streams

through Wind and Rain

I'll be there

Across the wide and open sky

thousands of miles I'd flyto be with you

I'll be there

Don't be afraid, oh my love

I'll be watching you from above

And I'd give all the world tonight,

to be with you

Because I'm on your side,

And I still careI may have died,

but I've gone nowhere

Just think of me,

And I'll be there

In the breath of a wind that sighs

oh, there's no need to cry

Just think of me,And I'll be there

Ramblin' Man by Lemon Jelly!

:-p

MarcB

Isn't that song by the Allmen Brothers?

Brian Snat...I can honestly say I only heard of 2 songs and about 6 of the artists from your entire list. What are you listening to?

Or am I that far out of touch?

Salvelinus

I think they've done a song with the same name- no relation at all though. The one by Lemon Jelly is very good (as is the rest of their music).

Well some of my nearly 2,000 CD's and 600 vinyl records. Also college and underground radio stations, where I find some great new stuff. Its funny, the looks I get from some nose ringed, hipster record store employees when they see a middle aged, grey haired guy like me buying these CD's

I'm picking up on a signal

that's in the air tonight.

It's sparkin' my receiver,

it feels like dynamite.

I got the message

but I wanna get it straight from you.

My mind is electric,

I'm about to blow a fuse.

The cockpit is empty

so shoot it down the tube.

I got the message

but I wanna get it straight from you.

I've got to make a connection.

I'm on needles and pins.

Workin' up a printout

and I'm gonna zero in.

I got the message

but I wanna get it straight from you.

Hmm, I thought the exact opposite. I have heard of or own CD's (got rid of all my vinyl except 50 10 years ago) by all but a few of those artists. I figure I should look them up since BS & I seem to have similar taste in music.

Even though I listen to music all the time, I have a horrible voice and rarely sing.

However I have been known to belt out The Lumberjack Song by Monty Python when I'm waaay out in the woods. :):):o

Adding to this list-

Road to Nowhere-Talking Heads

and um check out the sig line...

I usually get the "Country Bears" soundtrack going through my head.....here's why John Hiatt could have had a really good caching tune, had he put some of these songs together.

"Let It Ride" talks about where you're coming from and where you're going to....

sun in your face...hole in your shoe

"Where Nobody Knows My Name" mentions a town down the road where I ain't been before..... nobody knows my name, or what I'm looking for

"Straight To The Heart" says things like:

we take the long way around, we get lost and we get found.......climbing mountains crossing streams..... shortest distance from lonely ... going to find a way to go

which brings us to "It's Just The Going"

nobody else can be showing which way to go....and you're not even sure where you're going to......Sometimes It's just the going

I've contemplated this further and have come up with these great songs:

(click the links to go to the download site)

Jethro and Vash at the Fair

Journey of Solitude

Prayer

Bonds of Sea and Fire

Chu Chu's Flight

Metal Gear May Cry

A Storm in the Desert

Braving Tal Tal Heights

Pirates of Dragon Roost Isle

Fear Not

Shepherd Won't Alone

I have chosen these songs not so much for their lyrics (considering none of them have lyrics), but for the music. These songs emit a sort of "epicness" befitting a cache hunt, especially one that requires a good hike and ends with a true feeling of triumph!

Oh, and don't worry about the legality of downloading any of these, they're all prefectly legal, they were made to be downloaded.

Remember Frank Sinatra's "I hit the highway?" (or somethin' like that).

And now, the park is near, and so I face the final curtain.

Too soon, I will be done, I'll find the cache, of that I'm certain.

I'll search down every trail, I'll cover each and every by-way,

and then, what will I do, I'll hit the highway.

Regrets, I've had a few, a dnf, that I'll not mention

I've grouched around the thorns, and I've complained, and felt the tension.

I've waded through the swamp, where it was dawmp, left no exemption.

And then, what do I do, I hit the highway.

For what is a man, what has he got

a gps, else he has nought.

The record shows ('cause it's time to end this thing), 1 with two zeroes,

Now, I'll hit the HI.................way!

Either I missed it, or no one has yet mentioned the Man in Black!

I've Been Everywhere , by Johnny Cash  (Cache)

Who knew that Johnny was a GeoCacher?  Enjoy.

Good choice since there is also an english versionUK version by Rolf Harris.

That looks more Aussie or NZ than UK.

Oh, and the US version was orginally recorded and was on the Billboard charts in the early 60s by Hank Snow. Though the Man in Black's version isn't bad either.

How about the German folk song The Happy Wanderer:

I love to go a-wandering

Along the mountain track

And as I go, I love to sing,

My knapsack on my back.

Falleri, Fallera,

Falleri, Fallera ha ha ha ha ha

Falleri, Fallera,

My knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream

That dances in the sun,

So joyously it calls to me,

Come join my happy song.

Falleri, Fallera . . . .

I wave my hat to all I see,

And they wave back to me

And blackbirds all so loud and sweet

From every greenwood tree.

Falleri, Fallera . . . .

O may I go a-wandering

Until the day I die,

O may I always laugh and sing

Beneath God's clear blue sky.

Falleri, Fallera . . . .

Happy Caching!

Hello muddah, hello faddah

Here I am at Camp Granada

Camp is very entertaining

And they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.

I went hiking with Joe Spivy

He developed poison ivy

You remember Leonard Skinner

He got ptomaine poisoning last night after dinner.

All the counselors hate the waiters

And the lake has alligators

And the head coach wants no sissies

So he reads to us from something called Ulysses.

How I don't want this should scare ya

But my bunkmate has malaria

You remember Jeffrey Hardy

They're about to organize a searching party.

Take me home, oh muddah, faddah

Take me home, I hate Granada

Don't leave me out in the forest where

I might get eaten by a bear.

Take me home I promise I will not make noise

Or mess the house with other boys.

Oh please don't make me stay

I've been here one whole day.

Dearest faddah, darling muddah,

How's my precious little bruddah

Let me come home, if you miss me

I would even let Aunt Bertha hug and kiss me.

Wait a minute, it's stopped hailing.

Guys are swimming, guys are sailing

Playing baseball, gee that's better

Muddah, faddah kindly disregard this letter.

I also like tongue twisters.

Some of my favorites:

Birdie birdie in the sky laid a turdie in my eye. If cows could fly I'd have a cow pie in my eye.

And

I'm not a pheasant plucker I'm the pheasant plucker's mate. I'm only here plucking pheasant 'cause the pheasant plucker's late.

Tried my new gps today lol.

and....?

Yep, hooked.

Found one of them no problem (I already knew the basic area anyway). The other one I couldn't find. I found the SPOT but not the cache. I'll keep my eye on the page and go look again if someone else finds it. I think it is gone though. I posted a dnf. I have another one to try after work. This weekend I plan on spending Sunday at getting to a few farther out ones lol.

Wand'rin Star -- Lee Marvin

I was born under a wandrin' star

I was born under a wandrin' star

Wheels are made for rolling, mules are made to pack

I've never seen a sight that didn't look better looking back

I was born under a wandrin' star

Life can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry

Snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry

Home is made for coming from, for dreams of going to

Which with any luck will never come true

I was born under a wandrin' star

I was born under a wandrin' star

Do I know where hell is, hell is in hello

Heaven is goodbye forever, its time for me to go

I was born under a wandrin' star

A wandrin' wandrin' star

(Life can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry)

(Snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry)

(Home is made for coming from, for dreams of going to)

(Which with any luck will never come true)

(I was born under a wandrin' star)

(I was born under a wandrin' star)

When I get to heaven, tie me to a tree

For I'll begin to roam and soon you'll know where I will be

I was born under a wandrin' star

A wandrin' wandrin' star

I hope that someone gets my

I hope that someone gets my

A year has passed since I wrote my log

But I should have known this right from the start

Logged in this morning, don't believe what I saw

A hundred billion new 1/1s washed across my screen

Seems I'm not alone in did-not-finds

Hundred billion quick dashes, just a mile from my ho-ome

My modification of one famous song.... :

I have climbed highest mountain

I have run through the fields

Only to find your stash

Only to find your stash

I have run

I have crawled

I have scaled these city walls

These city walls

Only to find your stash

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I have missed the satellites

Felt the headache under my hair

It burned like fire

This burning desire

I have spoke with the tongue of frogs

I have held the hand of a frog

It was warm in the night

I was cold as a stone

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I believe in the satellites come

Then all the coordinates will bleed into one

Bleed into one

Well yes I'm still running

You hid the cache and you

Created the mystery

Made the calculations

Just to tease me

Just to tease me

You know I thought I solved it

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for...
