dreamhummie
After nearly a year wandering away from the Netherlands and without Waymarking I'm back. What I found was a sleeping group. Belgium Benchmarks. Created in March 2014 and nothing done about this. I went to work and ask permission to developed this beautiful group. LINK: Belgium Benchmarks Belgium has no benchmark group on Waymarking yet so give first comment on my description of the group. Include my English is it well and do you understand my descriptions? NGI Belgian Authority manages everything and has all Benchmark Points for free on their website. Click this link and you have all the data for a Waymark for 10,000 benchmarks. Even with pictures. (DO NOT CHEAT) Do not look at the Officers in the group, it changed at this time. To contact the NGI we only want (after a wise discussion) BeNeLux Officers. By the language and good reviewing the Waymark. We have short contacts with NGI so the language is important. To make a post on Waymarking conditions may severely but we want to make a good group. It is written in English because we here read English well, otherwise we have to add in French and Dutch and then read, it is not logical. No discussion about Global criterion plz. This is already happening in the German Benchmarks in the forum. Like your advice and comments or questions about this group. Grtz John. Edited February 14, 2015 by dreamhummie Quote Link to comment
eikenboom
Good proposal! IMHO we should not be limited to the planimetric benchmarks, but also include the altimetric benchmarks, as the French benchmarking group ("French Benchmarks") does. +dreamhummie
The Altimetric Benchmarks are in it. They are the blue and purple marker on the NGI map. Or do you mean something else, contact me by PM in Dutch. Quote Link to comment
fi67
You forgot to add a link to the category proposal. It can't be found over the group page for non members:http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=7ad99840-fc46-45eb-835a-730935c18c88&exp=True This is a valid category. Over all the text could be a little shorter and more inviting. There is absolutely no reasons to highlight all that can be wrong and that it will be denied. You have the requirements and they have to be fulfilled, the rest is logical. And it sounds a bit authoritarian and unfriendly. (BTW: I do prefer an immediate denial over a delayed one .) And I don't think two pictures should be required for VISITS. There are also still some typos: defenition/definition, there/their. But it's on a good way, and I am sure that it will pass Peer Review without any major problems. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
dreamhummie
Thx fi67, Changed the link in my first post. I make some little changes right now ( the unfriendly ones and the 2 picture request) and thinking about a more inviting text and look at the typos. Quote Link to comment
Benchmark Blasterz
Thx fi67, Changed the link in my first post. I make some little changes right now ( the unfriendly ones and the 2 picture request) and thinking about a more inviting text and look at the typos. MORE BENCHMARK CATEGORIES!!! Woo hoo get going Quote Link to comment
dreamhummie
@ Tanthe.Hossi Thx for reading the Belgium Benchmarks page so well. Thumbs up. I tried to make a good translation in English but sometimes you don't see things. Even Google Translate does crazy things and sometimes it goes wrong with the HTML generator. I have corrected all the typos you guys found on the page and THX for all your compliments. -The title of the waypoint changed in "NGI meetpunt: (number) - Name of the city/village where the point is located." -Variables: Height --> removed. So far i see non of the other Benchmark groups ask for them in there variables. Shall we give it a go in the Peer Review or is there anyone who has a comment or a question about something else in this new group ? Quote Link to comment
silverquill
It is nice to see this category getting some momentum. I'm not familiar with the benchmark system, but it appears that you have defined the category well to fit the unique structure in Belgium. The English still needs some polishing, and I'd be glad to help with that. Your comments about Google translator and other on-line translation programs makes me laugh. The results are never good enough to be used, except to get the general meaning of a sentence or paragraph. And, when it comes to Asian languages, the results are often incomprehensible. We could always tell when our students in Korea were using one of these translators! Anyway, I think you are almost there! Quote Link to comment
dreamhummie
Thx siverquill. Google translate is not my favourite. First I try to do it myself, but with some words i need GT. The English still needs some polishing, and I'd be glad to help with that. I highly appreciated that. Thanks in advance for your help. I see forward to but after the Peer Review. To all of you: The Peer review is going on at the moment for the Belgium Benchmarks. Please vote positively to this category. It's easy to do even if you are just on vacation in beautiful Belgium. Free database to get all the info you need for the Benchmarks. And a simple way to find one. Grtz & Thx John Quote Link to comment
