Bruised LCD? Explorist 210

Recommended Posts

So today I take a look at my one week old Explorist 210 and see what looks like specks of dirt on the screen. I go to wipe it of and realize it is inside. 'What in the world?' I think. So I turn it off. The 'specks' fade away. So they weren't specks of dirt but some problem with the LCD. They went away but now there is what can only be described as a very faint 'bruise' on the LCD. Does anyone know what might cause this? I did not drop the unit. Besides this is my second Explorist 210. I lost my first one, went briefly to a Venture Cx, sold that and went back to the Explorist. I have been very happy with that decision. I find my Explorist FAR more accurate than the Venture Cx. But now I have the 'bruise'. I mean I litterally slid down a mountain with my old Explorist, dropped it multiple times, and it held up fine. Whats the deal? I am debating now if I should return it. Problem was I bought it off the net and I hate going through the trouble of returning something through the mail.

Only thing that comes to mind offhand is something vaguely similar that happened with an old Gameboy of mine. The screen got too cold, and discoloured. Has it been anywhere extremely cold, or perhaps sitting in a bag where something cold (like a cold can of pepsi, or anything that was put from a freezer into your bag on top of the GPS)?

That's about all I can think of. In either case... no matter what it's caused by, I'd still exchange it. I'd personally think the 'bruise' would annoy me after a bit.

EDIT: Changed it to 'exchange' instead of 'return'. I'm fairly certain a correctly working explorist shouldn't have this problem.

Not unless my pocket is cold! As it was about 60 out today, I kind of doubt it. Went in my pocket and it was fine, came out of my pocket and there were the spots!
