Hi guys.. We've only been geocaching for about a month. My children have decided to take preventative measures and insist I need to find a GA group.. You know... Geocachers Annonymous. I have to admit, I think we're hooked!

You found the right place, although I usually see more enabling going on around here, and not so much recovery going on ;)

Ahh, what you do is tell them it's not really an addiction. It's exercise. It's family time. It's...well, whatever you need to call it to get it past their radar. I bet you could get at least a year of caching in before they stage an intervention. Unless you start missing work on account of caching. Or you miss a family member's birthday party. Or you get 100 caches in one day, dragging the kids in tow. :D :D

Hi, my name is Mike. I created my own geocaching account in July, but I had tried it a couple of times with my significant other before that. There have been times where I have been SOOO ANGRY because I couldn't find a plastic container in the woods.

*Drops mic and runs away crying*

My sister is hooked now, from watching me do it. Now when I hear her talk about it, I ask the rest of the family "Is that what I sounded like?" The answer was yes.

Meanwhile, I let my PMO expire -- as a measure of my dependency I will see how long I can go before I cave, and pay up.

Good news! Until you've found more than 120 caches there's hope for... oh, wait... nevermind. :anibad:

One of my sisters suggested that to me. A friend said it's only an addiction if it can hurt you or others otherwise its a passion.

And, of course, nobody ever gets hurt while geocaching. unsure.gif

I usually try to compare it with other sports. They say I waste money on geocaching. And hitting a tiny ball with a $500 stick at a country club, riding at extremely insane speeds downhill on a expensive bike or scuba diving with hungry sharks is better? Maybe for them but I prefer caching.

FYI: 68 days.

I want to see the new search feature (is the rationalization I am using).

Glad you're back with the using.

I'm waiting to see that new search feature, too.

My son introduced me to caching when he asked if we minded stopping so he could log a cache.

I then asked a bit more about it.

When we went on holidays, we did a lot of caching together.

Now that we are back home, I have overtaken his score of finds and he is not too impressed

I couldn't go to a GA group. My sponcer would hate me and I would feel to bad about failing all the time. It is not really a addiction for me I just have to sign at least one log a day. So I have to cut out for a bit on Christmas, I can't have new hires ride in my work truck for the day. I have to bail on bonding time with co-workers on out of town trips to grab a cache. I don't see the problem everyone else does!
