Bad location

Recommended Posts

Hello all. We are now to this so bear with me here. My wife and I were out looking for cache's today and we came a cross a bad location for find a cache . it's on some old back road lot's of rut's and some shady looking people hinging out by this spot like there were watching us . the trailer house that was there looked like a drug dealer's place !!! we left right away . I would like to know who or how to have this location moved by the person who put it there ? any info would be great .

You can express your concerns in a log on the cache. I would not expect the log to cause the cache to be moved. In fact it might well belong to these "shady" characters. :) But really ruts in the road is not much to worry about and as long as the extended clip on your Desert Eagle is full there is not much to worry about. I seriously doubt a drug dealer would locate at the end of such a road.

I would agree that a note on the cache page expressing your concerns might be a good idea. We have gone places to search a few times that I wouldn't recommend either and have left without finding the cache. If the cache is older, it's possible the area has changed since it was placed. Or it might be that a new cacher without much experience placed it. Either way, a note on the cache page would alert the cache owner and others who might want to look for the cache.

Don't give up on caching, though! There are lots of GREAT places for caches!

Some caches for whatever reason are placed in areas that just aren't that appetizing. Perhaps the hider felt right at home in such a place, who knows? At any rate, nobody says you have to find them all. If a cache makes you feel uncomfortable at all, just move on, there's plenty more out there. I do it all the time.

It's up to the individual cacher to decide if they feel comfortable going for a cache or not, whether it's in a sketchy neighborhood and they lack confidence in the urban environment, or it's deep in the woods and they lack confidence in the outdoor environment.

Know what caches always creep me out? The ones in upscale suburban neighborhoods. I always feel like I'm being watched and someone is about to call the cops on me. 😳

Anyway, you'd probably have to have a much more specific problem to report about the cache to get it archived. Just being in a sketchy neighborhood likely won't do it.

It can be a lure! Geocachers usually have a GPS...
