+Bent Nerds
I am sure this has been asked before, but the search wont let me put in the words 'edge 705' Does the 705 have true paperless? All I get from the Garmin site is all the bike features. Cheers. Quote Link to comment
+jotne
You can add POI to the Edge, but not sure if you can use the "Nüvi macro" that gives you the POI with long description. Quote Link to comment
NordicMan
Define "true paperless". What do you want it to do? Originally a "paperless" device meant you could SEE all the cache information on the unit while out in the field, including stuff like the previous finders logs etc.. Nowadays "true paperless" means you can also WRITE information back to the unit while out in the field, and upload the results back to the web once you get home. I don't think the 705 can do the current definition of true paperless.. Quote Link to comment

Writing back is no big deal, I enjoy doing that manually. Quote Link to comment
+MrTin
No it can't be used for true paperless. But is is a very accurate and fast device, very useful in caching. I use it like this: for sedning cache data to the unit. Normally you need to erase all waypoints every now and the, and it must be done on the device. The paper stuff I download to my smartphone, since it is not that accurate. Quote Link to comment
+Loony Londo
I have an Edge 705 and a Palm TX. I download the pocket quiries to to the Palm TX using GPspinner and Isilo which means i can have the details of 1,000 caches with me. I can then manually enter the coordinates for a cache I want to find. Once i have found a cache I log them back at home on a net book though if there is WIFi I can log them in the field using the WiFi on the Palm TX. My plan is to buy a Palm Pre3 when they become available in the UK to replace my Palm TX and my mobile phone. I will still use the Edge as it is a good GPS Quote Link to comment

+alnawi
how to enter manually the cache coordinates is to go to: menu > save location. once you have typed it in you can find the waypoint on the map. Quote Link to comment
+alnawi
I still don't get it, all I want to know if I can view cache descriptions on the Edge? because I am not sure if to get premium membership. Quote Link to comment
