+Oodles&Doodles
Why does my Garmin 650 switch to a closer cache (which isn't necessarily closer if you are following a route)and I'm not able to get it to lock on the one I want. I find this really irritating and don't know how to fix this? Also are other having problems with the settings changing while you are walking....driving me crazy. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
I am not certain which Garmin 650 you are using, or if this is being shown through the or map compass screen. But it could be set to use geocaching dashboard regardless of whether you are navigating to a cache. The unit will show the closest cache, which often is not one I want to find. It got in the way so I turned it off. On the map screen, I configured my Oregon 600 [setup map] so that it does not show any dashboard until I am navigating, and use small data fields (with the pointer and distance) when I have selected a particular destination. That allows me to easily navigate to caches, stages of a multi, or other waypoints without changing profiles or having to use the caching dashboard. On the compass screen I selected a dashboard that suits my needs better. Whatever 650 you have, it can be easily customized to your preferences. If you have an Oregon, the 6xx wiki has a lot of information about how the unit can be customized. Edited August 22, 2014 by geodarts Quote Link to comment

+Oodles&Doodles
I have a profile set up for geocaching and it is always changing on me to a different profile. I guess I'm not sure how to switch off the dashboard until I'm closer to the cache. Quote Link to comment
