Greetings I am looking at buying a Magellan Explorist 400 gps and would like to know id I can download caches directly to the gpsr through send to gps before i purchase the gpsr .Thank you.

It might help if you mention what operating system you use, since if you haven't updated Windows nor its browsers in a few years, and Send To GPS works without extra tweaking, you may be OK for a while. Or in the case of a modern OS, if you've specifically set up Garmin Communicator so that Send To GPS is working on some other GPSr already, then, yes it should also work with the Magellan Explorist 400.

If you're asking if Send To GPS will continue to be easy to keep functional, probably not. It currently requires special steps to keep it working in most modern web browsers if the browsers allow it at all. Looks like that will become even tougher in the future. You may also notice you don't see the "Send To GPS" button in as many places as you once did on Geocaching.com anymore. Might be a clue. :anicute:

I have a Magellan Explorest 200 and have never been able to use the send to gps feature because that one does not support it I am is compatable or not I have always just used gpx file .

If for example you have Windows 10 and Internet Explorer (not to be confused with "Edge", instead use Internet Explorer that is found with Win 10), and if you then add "www.geocaching.com" as a "trusted site", you may be able to use Send To GPS for a while. That's not the only way to get "Send To GPS" working at this time. There are many threads around this Forum. Some browsers unfortunately are already no longer running plugins like that. Garmin Communicator seems to be going away... and "Send To GPS" along with it.

Looks like the Explorist uses a special file type, there's a strict waypoint limit per file, stuff like that. "Send To GPS" was a cool way to send files as a GPSr required, but it won't be around forever. If you really love a really old GPSr :anicute: (And why not? Go for it!), and you wish to invest time into learning computerese to keep it loaded with cache files, you could try a helper program instead. "GSAK" can talk to a Magellan Explorist 400, and manage the files for you.
