I have seen near me are a few that have Aand in the title. i am assuming this is a clue as to how to find/solve the cashe. What is Aand and what do i do for these. Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
Hi i am new to geocashing having only found 25 and all easy traditionals. i have started to move to the more difficult ones and would like some help. I have seen near me are a few that have Aand in the title. i am assuming this is a clue as to how to find/solve the cashe. What is Aand and what do i do for these. I see some caches in England that have "AAND" in the title, which have the info that "AAND - Aluminium Alpha-Numeric Disc - based caches", that you find a kind of tag, maybe in some cases attached to something at certain coordinates. I shall research this. http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=b6ced8bc-3ea8-439d-99e3-4db23187e316 I'll check to see if these caches are near you, once I've deduced where you are. [EDIT]: You have found caches in England, perhaps in the same area of the "AAND" caches. In cases like this, I'd suggest asking cache owners (shown in a link at the top of a cache page), since the cache owner should know what any odd text he typed means. And also the cache owner should then type more info (if figuring out acronyms is not part of the puzzle), so we don't have to guess what it means. [EDIT TO THE EDIT]: The caches required special "AAND" metal tags that had clues on them. "To find this micro cache, you'll need to own, see, find or otherwise have information from an Aluminium Alpha Numeric Disc (aka AAND), the colour of which there is a clue to on this page. The cache is hidden at N51° 4A.CGB W 000° 5F.EBD." You need the specific color-coded "decoder", of which there are several, to resolve the coordinates: I see there is a cache with an alternate way to solve the puzzle, if you have no tag. Pup Patrol
I did a search for caches with "AAND" in the cache name. Found a cache page where it explained that AAND is aabbreviation for "Aluminium Alpha-Numeric Discs". A previous thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=319595 You might want to contact one of the cache owners for help or a hint. What I have seen from using the search function is that they are Premium Member Only, difficult puzzles. (I assume the difficulty is in finding the correct token.) B. +Bear and Ragged
I'm a UK cacher (and not too far from you!) The other two posters have hit it on the nail, not a lot to add. Simply Paul and the Geolympics are to blame! They do have another name, but Groundspeak don't/didn't like it... There has been some recent(a few months ago!) discussions on the Cotswold Caching forum, some of the users have 'several' of the tokens, and may have 'nearly' a complete set between them. Or discussion here on Groundspeak forums Edited October 9, 2015 by Bear and Ragged Quote Link to comment
+eowynk
ARe the AANd's logged as travel bugs so when you look at a cashe yu can see if one is in it. this would make me try for these cashes sooner as i am starting to need some for the harder cashes now. Quote Link to comment

In a word, no. Just a case of hoping to find one in a cache, or bumping in to a cacher that has one ( or more) in their possession. Quote Link to comment
