GrayHawk613
What should I use to carry all my geostuff (swag, cache repair bag,CITO bag, etc) in the field? Should I use a backpack or a fanny pack? I don't have that much gear. Just a GPSr and the above items. What do YOU use? Edited December 12, 2014 by GrayHawk613 Quote Link to comment
niraD
I use a fannypack (and my pants pockets) for the geocaching (and non-geocaching) stuff that I always have with me. When I'm carrying more than that minimum, I bring a backpack. Quote Link to comment
speakers-corner
I use a backpack with lots of pockets. Quote Link to comment
JohnCNA
You can Google 'sling packs' to find a good assortment of small bags to carry stuff in. I use a small sling pack for short runs and a day pack backpack for all-day caching excursions in the woods. Quote Link to comment
popokiiti
I like my sling pack - bigger than a fanny pack, but smaller than a back pack. Try them on to see if you prefer right or left. Unlike a backpack, you don't have to take it off to get at the contents, just slide it to your front. Quote Link to comment
AKStafford
This is what I use. It's spendy, but I like it. http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/SITKA-GEARSLINGER-72p926.htm Quote Link to comment
michellepluseight
I use my camera bag. Bonus points for also protecting my camera when I choose to bring it along. Quote Link to comment

I have a small backpack, but I could probably get away with a fanny pack type thing. Quote Link to comment
JohnCNA
I love the Maxpedition stuff. Pricier than most, but their stuff is very heavy duty and stands up to the heaviest bushwhacking. I have replaced two nice packs for getting torn up by thorns, zippers wearing out, etc. My Maxpedition daypack looks as good as the day I bought it. Quote Link to comment
FourFunKiwis
Lol we use a 2 litre plastic lunchbox....this thread is rather inspiring! Quote Link to comment
RThreeSonz
A bit of overkill most days but we have camelback backpack with: - swag, snacks, large multitool, small multitool, gloves, emergency ponchos, flashlights, rechargeable batteries, kid's personal geocoins and several FRS radios to keep the 12 year old 'in range'. The bag also has a velcroed cloth trackable on it as well as a local geocaching club patch. Oh, and when going on a 1/2 day or longer run, the camelback water pouch filled with enough ice water for the day's adventure. Normally the bag just sits in my trunk. Have fun, -RThreeSonz Edited December 24, 2014 by RThreeSonz Quote Link to comment
popokiiti
Depends on the type of caching planned. Grab and go's get my small purse with a couple of pens, change purse and phone. My caching jacket holds a few other pens, tweezers and a few trinkets. For slightly longer treks, I have a sling bag which can be slid from back to front. Should I venture out for longer...then it would be the backpack, IF I can behave myself and not stuff too much in it! Quote Link to comment
GeoLog81
Everything else than backpack is quite unpracticable on the long distances... Quote Link to comment
RTechS
I use a fanny pack, but there's not enough room in it for tools/logbooks/swag/snacks, maybe a water bottle...so I am going to move on to a sling pack. I have tried a camera bag/similar, but I like to have my hands free and the camera/other bags tend to swing around and bang into me while walking/hiking. A sling pack would eliminate that issue. +Pork King
I used to carry a backback full of stuff. These days, it's a pen in my pocket, multitool on my belt, GPS in my hand. On hot days or long hikes, my hydropack has a small pocket for other sundries, as well. I have given up on carrying tape and logs and other cache repair items. Let the owner do the maintenance. I maintain mine. Quote Link to comment
