Is there any way you guys can look into making the "Type Something..." box taller? On google chrome that box is only 2 lines tall so you have to try to scroll up and down to see what you have typed before hitting send. Maybe if it was more like the top box where the sent/received messages are displayed.

This can be as simple as editing the CSS file.

.msg-draft textarea {
   border: medium none;
   box-shadow: none;
   height: 250px;
   line-height: 2em;
   outline: medium none;
   overflow: auto;
   padding: 0 1em 0 0;
   resize: none;
   width: 100%;
}

Standard height is 46, changing this to 250 gives a nice big text area.

If, at the same time:

.msg-draft-nofile {
   height: 421px;
}

If I change height 421 there to 270 it looks better still.

Only thing is that the rest of the layout has to be adjusted too but as I don't use MC I didn't look any further.

I'm still not keen on using the message center at this time. Unfortunately, others use it to contact me. I received an email letting me know that i had a message a couple of days ago. My first mistake was clicking reply on the email, typing my reply, then sending. Got to thinking about it and sure enough, checked and saw that the reply went to "noreply blah blah" instead of the person i thought i was sending it to. <_<

I figured i'd give the mc another try so clicked my way to it with a copy and paste of my original email reply. Pasted it in the "type something" space provided and then thought something went wrong. It showed my last sentence and i immediately thought i copied incompletely. Nope, turned out that i had to scroll to see everything, one or two sentences at a time. :blink:

A small suggestion that has ramifications in other location on the web site. Please make the user interface consistent. On some of the pages in Account Settings there is a "Save Changes" box to click when done editing. On the other pages, the only action possible or required is to exit the page, which usually means a second look of the page to ensure the changes were applied.

Thank you! I've already fixed this for my account.

I really don't like forms that apply my changes immediately. I'd rather set everything, then click Apply. Or if I change my mind, I can click Cancel and my settings are unaffected.

As I suspected and as depicted in the Release Note, notification after 30 minutes of inactivity is the default setting. As a user that will NEVER embrace / use the Message Center (unless Groundspeak actually removes email support), I am not sure if there is any difference between either of those choices for me. But I did change it just in case.

As a premium member I am paying you to provide me a proper service. Again, I am used as a guinea pig for incremental updates on a questionable feature. I want a "do not use message center" button just like the reviewers have it. Is that so hard? Even a reply via email to message center would be ok.

Then, you can continue to use my money to continue develop it or discontinue it for as log as you like. I don't care. But this is annoying not only to me but to to a lot of people.

If it is of use, people will use it. Don't force it (remember: I am paying).

If it's not (yet) of use, it's for the beta crowd (or the bin).

What a shame that unticking the Message Centre box doesn't turn it off.

Post this as a feature request and you have my vote B)

Even a reply via email to message center would be ok.

A Lackey posted somewhere in the forums that they're currently working on exactly that. I'll see if I can find the post.

Edit: Ah, here it is.

Are you trying to infer that replying to the email will reply to the thread in the message center?

That feature is being worked on AS WE SPEAK (replying to email will update the Message Center, that is...) - I don't have an ETA for release, but I can say we're working on it.

Looking at the statistics of the "Road Trip", there are 450'000 who got the first souvenir, but only about 12'000 who passed the finish line.

12'000 cachers. Across a globe that is littered with 2.8mio caches.

That ain't a whole lot. And not a reassuring sign of widespread "community" engagement.

But this explains the recent changes to the website, with the "Search" and "Message Center". My guess is that "clicks" and "ad revenue" are on steady decline, and The Powers are panicking. New cachers likely don't ever visit the web site and just write their "Found it" two word logs (at least twice, for every cache) via mobile app. Facebook was in a similar pinch three years ago, when they just couldn't figure out how to reel in the mobile phone population for revenue. They worked it out, and my guess is that Groundspeak right now is just copying from that playbook.

Frankly, under these circumstances, I can "understand" and accept the changes to the site, as well as the site features that used to be useful, but were made less so. Still, I thought we were "friends", and a community. Why not come clean, and make your reasoning clear? If you tell me that Signal's Lily Pad is 2mio$ in the doldrums because of declining ad revenue, and this is why you either have to ramp up the site visits, or the membership fee, hey, you got my vote to do either or both.

You know, at least 12'000 of us still love you and this hobby. But we don't feel all that loved-back lately.

Don't forget, not everybody logs right away. I know at least three cachers who also completed the geocaching road trip (including myself) but have yet to log all their finds. Hell, I'm still logging stuff from July.

Yep. I completed the road trip, but I haven't logged the last cache yet.

I'm not sure where you got your number of finishers. I just checked the progress/status page and I saw this.....

You were geocacher #35,555 of 50,889 to earn this souvenir. Nice job!

BTW, I completed the list on July 22, logging the last find around July 28.
