+woollyhats
UPDATE: My question has been answered, thank you Hello, I found a trackable today, which I logged, and grabbed for my online (and real!) inventory. It wasn't listed at the location I found it at though (it was a surprise!). Is it possible to log that I found him from there? I notice most people have logs from a specific location, whereas my log is not from a location. I have logged that he is in my possession, but it doesn't show where he came from in my log. I don't know if this is possible, or important. Is there a way to do this? Edited April 18, 2015 by woollyhats Quote Link to comment

This is what needs to be done when a trackable has been incorrectly logged previously, or not logged at all. You can use the "visit" log to dip it into the cache where you found it. That won't place it in the cache physically. But it will set the mileage straight. Then, when you do drop it in a cache, you would just do a normal "drop" log. Or you could just go ahead and drop it in a cache, and make sure it gets logged properly. If the mileage it has travelled isn't that much, it wouldn't make much difference. http://www.geocaching.com/track/howto.aspx B. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
Sure, and welcome to the hobby. The person before you didn't log that he placed it just a couple days earlier, so you "grabbed it" from him. If you were going to discover it, it should've been left there. Anyway, just have it visit the cache online (took it to), since it's already in your possesion. - This gives it sort of an accurate record and gives it some mileage. Be sure to explain why you're doing that with your new log. Saying it's your first day too helps. The trackable's owner's probably just happy that it isn't swiped yet. Remember you have it to place in another hide. The Help Center is a great tool for learning about this odd hobby. - Here's a link to one Everything you wanted to know about trackables.
