TerenceTheTrilobite
Hi I really like working with UK OS maps and Ive discovered I can find my way to within 10 metres of a cache -not quite accurate enough in some situations! Takes me ages to spot the stash. I would still like to use my maps but it would be good to have a simple device that would give me lat. and long co-ordinates when Ive got as close as I can get with the map. Also I think I would like to create caches sometime in the future so I will need to be able to list the co ordinates of anything I create. I don't want apps and maps and all the rest of it (or a smartphone) So does anyone know of a device that doesn't need internet and simply gives me my position? Thanks -Terence Quote Link to comment
+hzoi
I would think any basic GPS receiver would give you this. I had that ability with my old Garmin GPS 12 Quote Link to comment
+vw_k
Yes any basic GPSr will do this, I still use one of the old style Garmin Etrex units and would recommend them. Quote Link to comment

+JoesBar
As stated, the lowest model will work fine. Magellan 110 has a list price of $130. It has a color screen. Garmin has the eTrex 10. List price $110. Monochromatic. You can also look on Ebay for used ones. Or look at any local buy/sell website. Just because a unit is a few years old does not mean it will be less accurate. +briansnat
Stay away from the older units. They have major issues with reception. The Garmin eTrex 10 is an inexpensive unit that will do what you want. Quote Link to comment

Thanks JoesBar reckon I will go for a garmin etrex 10 as I don't mind the monochrome and the concensus seems to be that it will do the job Quote Link to comment

Thanks for the warning Briansnat, I was leaning more towards the new version as I prefer my electronics to be brand new Quote Link to comment
