GoCougs!!
I am an elementary teacher and I am new to geocaching/GPS. I would like to set up a scavenger hunt using coordinates and clues for my students around the school yard. I do not have much of a budget to purchase GPS devices, but I do have access to a set of I-Pads. Is there an app that anyone would recommend that could be used to find coordinates and create waypoints? I am pretty new to this, but am excited to learn. Any information anyone would like to share, I would be happy to hear. Quote Link to comment
+geodarts
I assume that the I-pads have full data connectivity. My wi-Fi only ipad does not have a built in gpsr. Since you are setting up private caches on the school yard, you would not have to worry about a full cache listing or using one of the geocaching apps. I would keep it simple. A free program like compass commander lite allows you to set up multiple waypoints (and teach a little bit about compasses as well). You could print whatever description and clues you want to go with that. Edited March 26, 2014 by geodarts Quote Link to comment

+MtnMutt-ProDuckShins
The Geocaching App works well with the iPad 3 LTE 'Verizon' but I always back it up with my GPSR 62ST. If you happen to have a GPSR then download Northwest Trails and Topo. I'm saying this because of your Cougs instead of GoDawgs. No you can no download the Trails/Topo onto the iPad. I'm working to figure that out. Good luck... Quote Link to comment
