Idea for my first cache

Hey everyone. My girlfriend and I have been Geocaching for about 6 months now. We are safe to say that we are addicted and having loads of fun! :-). We both found almost 100 and its our turn to hide one. I have an idea for I believe is a Puzzle Cache or a Multi, no sure. I want to have in the description a basic movie trivia question. The right answer with have of course the coords. But then that leads to another question with coords to another and so on. Maybe 4 or 5 total. But my question is that they might be a mile away from each other and might have to drive to each. Is this ok? Thank for all the help.

That's fine. Each stage though will have to 520 feet from other caches though. You could call this a puzzle or multi.

It would be much appreciated by those seeking the cache if you would include in the description something that indicates that they are not very close together--maybe the total distance from beginning to end.

Please keep in mind that complicated puzzles to be done in the field can be bothersome, especially if they're unexpected. Lots of folks use their GPSr and don't necessarily have a smart phone available to Google stuff. I'd be inclined to say it would be better as a series of independent puzzle caches that can be solved at home before heading out. If you do it as a multi, definitely be clear that they will have further trivia questions to answer along the way.

Read this, if you haven't done so already. Also read the sections in the help center regarding hiding caches, ESPECIALLY the sections regarding puzzle caches several times, just so it all goes easily for you when you submit things to your reviewer. Good luck.

That's key. Many people avoid multis because they have no idea what will be involved once they start. When I hide multis I mention the number of stages and the approximate amount of time it will take to complete. If the distance between stages is out of the ordinary I make sure to mention that too.

Okay everything. Thanks for all the help and leading me to the right direction with this. I'm just excited it being my first one and all. I will read everything I can to make sure I'm in the guidelines for placing caches. I also will put in the description that each stop will have a question to lead to the other, no surprises. I want each question to be a surprise, lol. Here is an example.

Which of these actors had a cameo in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984?

A: John Goodman -

B: Dan Ackroyd -

C: Bill Murray –

D: Tom Hanks -

Another question in that do I have to put an official Geocache sticker on each spot for the coords, no right?

It's technically not required, however it certainly wouldn't hurt. Also, it depends on where you plan to place them. Are they in an area where others are likely to see cachers retrieving the stages? If so, you may want to include a stash note or geocaching sticker on each one.

It was Dan Ackroyd :)

Are you talking about putting a Geocache sticker at all the stages of a multi cache? No, that's not necessary. You don't have to put an "official" sticker on anything, including the final. It is a good idea to at least write www.geocaching.com and the GC code of the cache somewhere on the container, in case someone finds it by accident and is trying to figure out what it is. Also a good idea to include a more detailed "stash note" inside the container explaining what it is. You can download and print some free ones from several places on the Internet. Www.techblazer.com is a good site for printable stash notes and log sheets

They would only have to be 520 feet apart (from other caches) if you plan on putting a actual container at each spot. If not you would only have to worry about the final location being 520' from the other caches. I was not sure if you were actually planning on putting a container at each spot. If so I think it would be more of a multi then a puzzle. If there is not a container at each spot it could make a puzzle.
