jellis
I was checking a cache page and I saw something that almost caught me. At first I thought it was something GC added to their New Messages. It was this. I just woke up so I didn't notice much and clicked on it thinking GC wanted us to add this to make it work better. Then I got this. Knew this didn't make any sense since GC would NOT have you install something. I went back to the cache page and saw it was an Ad. Just to inform others who are new or not paying attention that this is only an Ad and has nothing to do with Geocaching and DO NOT click on Install. +narcissa
I got invited to try the new message centre. I would have thought the same thing, had I seen the ad. That is annoying. Edited April 11, 2015 by narcissa Quote Link to comment

niraD
I love it... Access your webmail accounts from your browser. Because accessing my webmail accounts from my browser is such a novel concept... Quote Link to comment
Mudfrog
I don't have an ad blocker. In my opinion, being a paying member of the site, i shouldn't have to see these ads in the first place. Yep, i too saw this same ad and clicked on it the other day. The "just a few seconds" box came up and i immediately knew it wasn't part of gc.com. We may have to put up with ads but misleading stuff like that needs to be screened out somehow. Edited April 11, 2015 by Mudfrog Quote Link to comment

DragonsWest
I remember when I thought Ask was a fairly novel company and their cool parsing with Jeeves was nifty. Long since then I despise how each Java update tries to cram their wretched tool bar into all of my browers. I accidentlaly let it the first go and spent a lot of time cleaning it out. Now they mimic the message icon of the host site for an ad. Sleazy. Very. Quote Link to comment
Viajero Perdido
Try uninstalling Java and leaving it that way. Unless you know you have an esoteric app that specifically needs Java (unlikely), you'll be better off. Java on the client (PC) died years ago. Good riddance. Not to confuse with JavaScript of course, which is built into browsers and doesn't need updating. Quote Link to comment
Seaglass Pirates
Im dreading Christmas. Sitting there merrily searching for caches while everything I have looked at for presents is ruddy paraded on the right hand side and I didn't even notice till it was too late. Tried to get rid of it ... ohhh don't worry you can download a blocking cookie. Until you sign out and as soon as you sign in its gone. And now you have another time consuming procedure to follow where the onus to opt out is now placed on the user. Quote Link to comment
