Hello,

Well I have some questions and cant seem to find local players (I'm in Norwalk, WI) to ask face to face so here goes.

What I can now is a Dell X5 pocket pc with a IGPS-CF the card seems to work ok with CacheMate. I've got caching in it 500 hundred so far. I found Mapopolis downloaded it and seem to install ok, First question where do I get maps? I have looked all over. I also have a older lap top. what does Gsak do for me? Any thought on keeping it simple.

thanks

Jimmy

GSAK, Geocaching Swiss Army Knife, is a database management application designed to be friendly to geocachers.

The rest of your jargon is Greek to me, but welcome to the hobby.

For me, researching caches on the PC, printing a few listings, then taking my old Magellan GPS was how I started. I now use pocket queries to load my Oregon 450, then use the field notes to log caches when I return to the PC.

Question: Why are you using that Dell X5 pocket pc? I hope it is not because you read some old info, and think that you have to use old equipment.

Personaly, I would recomend getting either a handheld GPS, or a android or iOS smartphone (as long as it has wifi, doesn't have to be connected to a carriar). It will make your life much easyer.

No, I am using that Dell X5 pocket pc because I had it already sitting in a draw so I thought something is better than nothing until I either upgrade my phone or get a real gps
