Is biotope recognized for EarthCache?

There is biotope near my hometown KOBE.I am interesting in this biotope.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotope

I want to know whether this biotope is recognized for EarthCache.

Biotope would more than likely not make a suitable topic, however, I've seen a few Listings that develop a closely related subject that is more closely aligned with the Guidelines:

Limnology

More specifically:

Limnology (/lɪmˈnɒlədʒi/ lim-NOL-ə-jee; from Greek λίμνη, limne, "lake" and λόγος, logos, "knowledge"), is the study of inland waters. It is often regarded as a division of ecology or environmental science. It covers the biological, chemical, physical, geological, and other attributes of all inland waters (running and standing waters, both fresh and saline, natural or man-made).

Developing a topic based on the natural limnology of an area might work. I would probably avoid dwelling on man made modifications, as that usually relates to some engineering aspect, which is not a suitable topic.

Since "biotopes" deal with plants and animals, not geology, the quick answer is "no." An earthcache must focus on a geology lesson. Perhaps you can find some interesting geology in the area?

I do not yet go to biotope.

If I can not find some interesting geology in the area,I should give up registration.

Hi yaroujidai,

we need a link to your (special) biotop near KOBE, not to the definition of biotops.

Thank you for giving advice.

I will go to biotope. And I confirm whether I will matche guideline you suggested.

These crabs look tasty. ;) It seems like this biotop was built 2004, so very young and not natural. Also I can't see a geology topic. But I can see a mountain in the background, so maybe you do a trip to that mountain and find an outcrop there. Or you check out this waterfalls 34° 42.583'N 135° 11.633'E (you have to work out a lesson about the geology you see around the waterfall, age of the stones/rocks, genesis, structure, maybe fossils and much more; search for geologic literature, etc. )

Good luck. (Not sure if you just like the biotop you posted or your like to work out an EarthCache no matter where.)

Hi,lumbricus!

Thank you for your answer.

The waterfall you taught is very near from my shop.NUNOBIKI waterfall is very famous in Kobe.

I watched this waterfall several times.I may register this waterfall for EarthCache. :)

Probably worth noting that "waterfall classifications" are no longer a suitable topic. Link for reference:
