What is a letterbox cache?

There is a sister sport called letterboxing. Its similar to geocaching in that a box is hidden and people search for it. The difference though is that instead of using a GPS to find it, searchers use clues provided by the letterbox owner. And instead of trading and signing a log, letterboxers carry personal stamps and will stamp the logbook. The letterbox will also have its own stamp so finders will stamp their personal logbook with the letterbox's stamp.

A letterbox hybrid is a cache that is both a letterbox and a geocache. On this site it will be referenced by coordinates and you can use a GPS to find it. Letterboxers also should be able to find it using clues. As such it will usually be crosslisted on a letterboxing website. The two most popular in the US are Letterboxing NA and Atlas Quest.

For a cache to be listed here as a letterbox hybrid it must, at minimum, have a stamp. It also makes sense to cross list it on a letterboxing site or somehow advertize it to letterboxers, otherwise there really is no point in making it a letterbox hybrid cache.
