Cache state value statistics - some countries dissapeared

Hi all,

 

during update of my geocaching statistics I found that state value of some of countries is not available more. I cannot see states (countries, cantons), provinces..) in my statistics anymore. This is related to the caches in Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Slovenia. As an example, cache in famous city Sparta in Greece. Original location was "Pelopones, Greece" but if I open the listing now, it is just "Greece" there. The State value dissapeared. Anybody with similar experience? Any known reason?

Your stats are from "Statistics generated by GgStat 1.1.36c running on GeoGet" and not Groundspeak. May be that's where you should start to ask questions?

Your stats are from "Statistics generated by GgStat 1.1.36c running on GeoGet" and not Groundspeak. May be that's where you should start to ask questions?

 

I do not think it has anything with a program making statistics. The data (state value) is missing in cache listing. And it was there in the past.

if you look at left side of coordinates, you can find just a " in Greece". There was " In Pelopones, Greece" in the past I think.

 

Stats program just takes a data from Groundspeak.

GeoGet is indeed a free GSAK type program from a developer in The Czech Republic, but that's not what he's talking about. The "State" or "Province" (or choose another similar term) seems to be missing from caches in Greece on the Geocaching.com cache page.

 

Someone from Groundspeak would have to answer this question. But if you'd like my theory, the 4 European Countries you mention are Countries where Geocaching is not very popular. Maybe it wasn't worth the trouble on the programming side?

Well, my theory seems to be holding up. No "States" or "Provinces" for listings in places like Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegvenia, Croatia and even Slovenia (although Slovenia has quite a few caches). Hungary seems to be about the least cache dense Country where you start seeing States, and of course you do in all the other cache crazed European Countries.

 

I guess the big question is, are you sure there used to be States listed for all these Countries, and it's now gone?

I just downloaded "MyFinds PQ" to check it out. My finds in Greece still show the states. But the cache listing doesn't.

I am using Bedgegen signs in my stats - I like country signs and I am trying to have as much % of the country as possible. I was in Croatia, Montenegro and Greece last year. As an example, Croatia BadgeGen signs had showen 3 or 21 states, listed as Split, Šibenik a Knin and Zadar. Now the sign shows just ?1/21. Greece the same. I am not sure what happened but there must be some change somewhere. I am trying to find if this happened at Groundspeek or Badgegen side.
