Finding a lost cache

Today while working I came across an old army type tin in a river that isn't normally there. Opened it up and it was a geocache! I didn't have time to route through and find coordinates as I had dogs with me but jotted down the cache name on the box. It wasn't on the map as I've done some of that route, unless it's hidden from me as I'm not a premium member?

Anyway, it was called 'Teaspoonerisms'.

Any help on what to do?

Today while working I came across an old army type tin in a river that isn't normally there. Opened it up and it was a geocache! I didn't have time to route through and find coordinates as I had dogs with me but jotted down the cache name on the box, hid it under the bridge so hopefully no muggles take it and thought I'd ask on here! It wasn't on the map as I've done some of that route, unless it's hidden from me as I'm not a premium member?

Anyway, it was called 'Teaspoonerisms' and I found it on the cycle path heading from Purwell lane, 2nd right where the bridge is clearly visible in the river. Now placed under the bridge.

Any help on what to do?

It's on the map, and it's a puzzle. Not a PMO cache.

I used the search function on the Hide & Seek page, popping that name in the "Cache Starts with:" section.

If you signed the log, then log it as "found" online, and tell the story of how you found it and what you did with it.

You could also contact the cache owner, who has logged in as recently as yesterday.

Oh, dadgum I didn't sign as I had my hands full and far too many people around! I've messaged the owner, even if it should have been there it was far too visible as it caught my eye and I wasn't even geocaching! I've let them know what I did with it :) Sorry, this is all still knew to me, I've just realised now you've mentioned a puzzle one that I read recently which isn't too far. I don't usually use this site, I have an app on my android phone.

I was trying to be helpful, hope I've not done anything wrong! Still, I might head back in a few days and sign if still there!

If nothing else, post a "write note" log on the cache page to let the owner and everyone else know what you've done with it.

Help Center → Finding a Geocache → Logging a Geocache

4.2. What log type should I use?

You could also solve the puzzle to discover what the final coordinates should be. And if it's not too much trouble, head back to where you put it and replace it at the solved coordinates.

Okay, I'll log it now. I actually had to go pick someone up near there so headed back to have a proper look and to make sure my hurried hiding of it was done properly. I signed it to with brief explanation I'd found it without meaning to. If I don't hear back from owner by weekend I'll try and learn this coordinate thing and put it where it should be at the weekend. I only use the compass and arrow on my app, as I said it's all new to me!

You've been very helpful :)

MnM contacted me pretty much straight away.

Of course it should be logged as a find.

MnM also described exactly where this cache was replaced and knowing the area very well it is clear that it is exactly where it should be. Why post a maintenence log for a cache that really doesn't need it AND there has been finder / owner correspondence for?
