From US and backpacking in Ireland Need advice

I am writing for my daughter one of the Sixbearsclan. She is backpacking across Ireland and is taking our family GPS ( Garmin Colorado 300). I don't know if we need to download a different map of Ireland on the GPS or if there is a preloaded map. I called Garmin and the person I spoke with couldn't tell me. I need to find out if caches I pre-load into the GPS will show her where she is on a map. Does anyone have a suggestion or wisdom pass along?

If you have the Garmin basemap then I think it will cover Ireland, but only the major roads so isn't going to be much use for hiking but you can get free OpenStreetMaps from here which will be good Ireland and are very detailed including footpaths and trails:

Definitely use Talkytoaster, we have cached and walked in Ireland with these loaded on our Garmin, much more detailed than the basemap.
