"Builder" not installing properly?

I was trying to set up my laptop to play “Play Anywhere” cartridges . I do not own any “smart” phone or other advanced equipment.

Anything you can offer to assist getting this working would be helpful.

I installed the Wherigo builder on my Laptop. When I open the emulator, I get an error message. It says, “Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue.[i tried, computer did nothing] If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.[Yep, Builder shut down]

An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007000B)”

When I click Details, it shows:

See the end of this message for details on invoking

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Sorry for the late reply. I thought someone else would handle this.

Do you still have a problem? Have you installed the two patches for the builder and emulator? Are you getting this error on every cartridge you try? Are you trying to open a GWC (compiled cartridge) or a cartridge currently loaded in the builder?

I can at least see you're running Windows 7 SP1 and your computer is 64-bit.

Problem still occurs. I was not aware of two patches for the Builder and Emulator. Where do I learn more?

I start the Wherigo builder on my Laptop. When I click on Emulator, I get the error message before anything else happens. I assumed that once the Emulator opened, it would ask for the cartridge file that I wanted to run. Since that never happened, I was lost.

I'm trying to install Download Wherigo Builder for Windows (Alpha)from http://www.Wherigo.com/builder/download.aspx to my PC, of which I am the only user.

All I see is an error message "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"

How can I get round that, please?

Either you're on an Active Directory domain or you're not the admin of that computer. It looks like a policy issue is set in place against the installation of software--unless you're not logged in as an admin account on that computer. If you run into problems installing Urwigo or any other software as well, that's your issue right there. Earwigo and Wherigo\\kit, two web-based builder applications, are still available to you. If you want something full-featured, go with Earwigo.

Many thanks, Mr Fox:

I don't understand much of what you say but I am the only user of my PC and just switch it on when I want to use it. I've not had bother loading any software in the past, and can load Earwigo, Urwigo and Wherigo/kit without bother. It's just the GS Wherigo that won't install.

I started looking at the Earwigo introduction, loaded the test cartridge but then got stuck as it wants me to go into Wherigo Emulator - but I can't load Wherigo......

That's odd. When I made that post and used the words "two patches", I had hyperlinks on both of them. Let's try this again: two patches.

I can fall out of contact at times because of work, both of the full-time variety and what I'm doing on the side. If that happens, the best thing to do is to remind me a few days later, such as by making another post.
