Add pagination or limit to list of recent logs in Quick View

Interesting idea. I'd not spend developer time on it just yet, but does seem like something that could go on the want list pile.

Very large numbers of logs are the norm for reviewers. If it's a problem I use the browser "stop" button, don't wait for the page to finish loading.

For you this problem will take care of itself in 30 days. In the meantime, your browser has a stop button. The more critical stuff at the top will be loaded shortly.

This is no big issue for me, as you say, I already use the stop button. And the problem will go away in about 20 days.

I suppose I have to concede that when viewed as a specific problem -- "too many caches because I've just recently done a power trail" -- it seems so uncommon that it's not worth fixing. But as an improvement to make the profile page more consistent and useable, I think it makes sense to limit the list. But I'd say to limit it much more severely.

I want to see my 21st most recently entered log about as often as I want to see my 6th most recently viewed cache, so I think it makes great sense for the profile page to just list about 20 and then, like the recently viewed list, in front of the the current "Geocaches" link, add a "view last 30 days" link that shows you the list you currently get on the main page. In fact, this opens the door for other reasonable options for those additional links, since for anyone that's been caching a while, showing a list of all logs they've ever entered isn't really reasonable.

On the other hand, I wouldn't want pagination unless I can disable it. In the rare cases I do want the entire list, it's so I can use a text search to find something. Pagination would make that impossible.

Normally I might also concede the "there are more important things" argument, but as we know from the user input forum, they're already considering ways of redoing this page.

I agree, I don't find powertrails every day either :) But I did notice it now, and wanted to report it. To me a limit seems natural, so I simply looked as this as something they had forgotten to add. But it is not uncommon for people to have more than 200 logs over a period of 30 days (finds + DNFs + travel bugs, a lot of people carry travel bugs to track mileage).

But it's up to Groundspeak to decide, and I don't blame them if they give this low priority :)

I recently logged a power trail, and as a result have about 1800 logs showing under "Your Logs (Last 30 Days)" in Quick View.

This makes the site really slow.

Maybe you could add a limit so only the first 500 logs are shown?

I have the opposite problem. I don't cache that often so fairly often "Your Logs (last 30 days)" might only show 2-3 cache, if that. As a result, a substantial amount of screen real estate is empty in the wide column which contains the "Recently Viewed Caches" and "Your Logs(last 30 days)" sections. I'd like to be able to select "last 90 days" or "last 50 logs".
