South West Cornwall Best and worst caches

Recommended Posts

we have several favourites, top of the list is the now archived "The Hypnotist" GC16V4N which was a very clever idea followed by the "Got a Light Boy? series and many of the earthcaches.

Worst caches, for us, are any that are hidden purely because they are 528 feet from the previous cache.

EDIT - after further discussion we also don't like caches hidden "just because there was space"

We like caches along the coast with good sea views and nice big boxes :)

Some of our favourite caches are set by Dan 1980 - the Wreckers' Trail (GC2TBZ7) and The Smugglers' Trail (GC2TBZV) leading to X Marks The Spot (GC2TC0K). These caches are really well thought out and are definitely recommended if you're in the area.

A bit of nepotism so sorry about that -

http://coord.info/GC479T6 - Movie Night In Bond

http://coord.info/GC3HRQG - So near yet so far out of the blue

http://coord.info/GC3HRY2 - So near yet so far More Tea ...

http://coord.info/GC33ADE - Feet In The Leat - cracking nerve tester

But most favourite puzzle - http://coord.info/GCPWKZ - Pirates Treasure Trove

Favourite Series - This is very hard because there are many that we really loved and would and have gone back to walked round again but a few are

http://coord.info/GC3F32B - Indy Bones series

http://coord.info/GC342CX - Quest of Erebor Series

http://coord.info/GC339H7 - Prussia Pressure Series

http://coord.info/GC2TZNH - Wandering Wound Wilsey

http://coord.info/GC4NR9Q - Liberettos both series

Although a couple of these are not in West Cornwall they are in Cornwall and the South West.

Favourite Earth Cache in Cornwall

http://coord.info/GC1YHAD - Copper Arsenic and Tin - brilliant brilliant

Favourite Traditional cache we have done .....

Could not possibly choose there have been so many

Favourite Multi - http://coord.info/GC2R7EH Over Sea Under Stone

Least favourite Cache of all time (Well the gnats chuff of time we have been caching)

Puzzle - Lots of Words - Sorry Steve I !!!HATED!!! *Insert Furniture Throwing Rant Here* but the puzzle drove me to anger and to hurt small animals. And the pain lasted for a year till we solved it. And it has left mental scars and made us shy away from puzzle caches ever since. The GZ however was jaw dropping and beautiful.

Traditional - http://coord.info/GC1ZTXF - when we went to this it was as a cache and dash attempt. This threw us for a bit but we worked out what we had to do. We had, had a brilliant days caching and this was almost the last and it soured the day massively. We had never found a chinese meal container at that point. It was wrapped in two carrier bags and the inside was cracked. Full of water that was brown and it was stinking of urine. The contents had rusted away, the log was a few sheets of ... well you get the picture. The area was stinking as well. Clearly a toilet used by all types of animals. In fact looking at it today the top log states "The presence of a dead fox is adding nothing to the charm of the location" LOL. So not a lots changed apart from the container apparently. In hind site and with a few under our belt now we would do confronted with that again but at the time we just signed, emptied and tried to restore the cache as much as possible. In fact I remember the smell of gas at the location then so maybe dead stuff is a regular feature. There have been worse caches since I am sure and Devon has the worst we have been to, but we always remember this one as it was the most shocking we had been to at the time .. sorry

Earth Cache - they have all been great

Multi - enjoyed them all.
