coolbotic
I was thinking about some good puzzle cache ideas and I thought of one involveing a rubix's cube and you must solve it in order to find the cordenets for the location of the cache and I would place this around bath. I am quite new to geocaching and was wondering if this is worth making? Any help would be appreciated like tips or new ideas ect. James Quote Link to comment
Andronicus
Sounds like fun. I don't see anything about the idea that wouldn't work. Just make srue that you meet the other guidlines (eg. permission, permanence, proximity to other caches etc.) My son has figured out (using the internet) how to solve a rubik's cube in about 2 min. I know of others that average less than 40 sec. Quote Link to comment
+K13
It could be a neat idea. The only issue I see is like some field puzzles of this sort, you are depending on the finders to reset the puzzle, so that when I come along, there's more for me to do than simply read the answer..... +niraD
I would expect some people to solve the cube by disassembling it and then reassembling it. Even without that, it could be possible to solve one face at a time to get the information. Quote Link to comment
+NYPaddleCacher
Sounds like fun. I don't see anything about the idea that wouldn't work. Just make srue that you meet the other guidlines (eg. permission, permanence, proximity to other caches etc.) My son has figured out (using the internet) how to solve a rubik's cube in about 2 min. I know of others that average less than 40 sec. My son gave a 4H public speaking presentation on the rubik's cube (he got a blue ribbon!). He included a brief video of the "world record" which showed someone solving it in 5.55 seconds. My sons got a collection of rubiks cube including a 4x4 cube that is quite a bit more difficult than a standard 3x3 cube. Awhile back I came across a puzzle cache based on a rubik's sudoku cube. It's basically a rubik's cube with a sudoku "cell" on each side. In this case, the cache description had an image that could be printed out and attached to a standard rubiks cube. It was meant to be solved before going out into the field. I'd be concerned about a rubiks cube that was solved in the field going missing, making the cache unfindable. Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
May be worth finding a few Puzzle caches, to see how they work. I'd be concerned that a cacher could take the cube apart, and then find they cant put it together again. Then the next cacher finds just the bits... Quote Link to comment
+J Grouchy
This one is very close to my office...I just haven't put in the effort to get the solution yet. http://coord.info/GC46Z18 Quote Link to comment
