setting first own geocache

HI.

I have just started to geocaching, and I have found 25 caches, now I made my own geocache and I faced a problem.

I dont have GPS which gives me the coordinates, But I have samsung galaxy s 5 which has gps and all kind of things.

Can I use android apps to set coordinates to geocache or do I have to rent or buy real GPS machine?

Any suggestions?

You have a gps. It happens to make calls, send text messages and many other things also. Just be sure to turn off the bits in the location settings related to using wifi and phone signal for helping determine the phone's location. These can cause errors.

I have used an app called Maverick Lite in my Galaxy s5. It has proven to be pretty accurate in the field.

Good luck.

If you don't trust your coordinates, then test them.

Enter your coordinates into your device, and then approach the cache location from at least 100ft/30m away. The arrow should point right at the cache location as you approach. Repeat the process, approaching the cache location from various directions, from at least 100ft/30m away each time. No matter which direction you approach from, the arrow should point right at the cache location.

If it doesn't, then adjust your coordinates until it does.

Bonus points for repeating the test on another day when the GPS satellites are in a different configuration.

Also, the Help Center article How to Get Accurate Coordinates should prove helpful.

I second getting a GPS averaging app. Let it run a few times. Like others said if you go back another day and do it again it is best. Then others will probably disagree but before you make you listing put your coords in google earth. See what it shows. Don't get your coords off of it but you can see if it looks like it is close and not across the street or across town or something.
