And it looks like a new look to the "Hide and Seek a Cache" page.

But it doesn't look like they didn't anything to improve the functionality, such as the problems users have reported with geographic searches not working or the dumbed down cache search.

And as always, thanks to Moun10Bike for keeping us informed. We know the messenger doesn't get to steer the ship!

The new layout looks nice.

I have always wondered, however, why there is one page for Hide *and* Seek, and why not a page for hiding and a page for seeking (searching). In 7 years of geocaching, I have gone to that page to find a cache, and gone to it to hide a cache, but never once to do both at the same time. Maybe others have, but not me. I think that if separated, both could utilise the full width and look even nicer in this new style.

The menu would be nicer too, with separate "Find a Cache" and "Hide a Cache" options. Just a thought.

Cheers

Thank you thank you thank you.

Really? Not for me they don't, and I just cleared my cache. (Firefox 16). For example, see the power trail here, which still disappears if you scroll out one notch: http://coord.info/ma...115.422445&z=12

Maybe it just takes a while for the caches on your end to update. In which case, thank you thank you thank you!

Some do and some still don't. Example:- This one still doesn't work.

Worked for me. Granted it defaulted to zoomed right in on the parking coords, but at least the map displayed, could be scrolled around and zoomed in and out.

I'm going to assume they 'fixed' the problem for PMs, at least partially. I can see no solution for the BM side of things for saturation determination. I know we were told that would be fixed as well, but I have no problem waiting until they get a handle on PM problems. Can still search by coordinates and on the listing.

BTW I use Vista Home and Chrome, and haven't looked really thoroughly, just the handful of local PMOCs that I've found or know about.

As for the close together cache lists. I found one that zoomed in shows individual caches (2). Zoomed out, I see two cache markers, but one shows one of the two caches, and the other marker shows both at the same time.

That is to say both stacked, even though two separate markers show on the map. Again I have to play some more, from the BM perspective.

It takes up to a week for the tiles at those zoom levels to regenerate. Shout if it still looks like there are issues after a week.

Hi Jon,

Could you please confirm specifically which Event guidelines were updated.

I suggest that whenever changes are made in the guidelines could be placed a vertical bar at the side of the text that has been changed.

Thanks in advance.

Here is my basic summary:

  • Added language to emphasize that event caches are meant to facilitate social interaction among geocachers.
  • Added language to indicate that end times should be included on events and tightened up the explanation of events with "several elements."
  • Replaced the statement that cache hunts should be organized via forums or email with new language that helps define it better.
  • Added information regarding donations, fees, and sponsors that was previously only present in the Help Center.

I've notified engineering of this issue.

That one works fine on my iOS Safari. Maybe it's just a caching (the computer variety) issue?

Thanks for the update. I'm not seeing the map functionality bugs I'd spotted before. :)

(Cough)

Eight days now. I just cleared the cache and tried again (http://coord.info/ma...115.422445&z=12 and zoom out one notch). Still not working for me.

I've been following up on this. It looks like a package that should have been part of the deployment failed to go out. Engineering is working on getting this out, but I don't have an estimate yet for when you will see the fixes.

I can now safely comment on my above post # 10, re the stacking thing.

It had little to do with the more normal stacking thing (as in stacking puzzle ID's by the dozen).

What I was seeing seems to be just a byproduct of the map system sometimes listing caches that way during condensing the cache display (near or at zoom level 12 / 11). Depending on proximity, sometimes you can find one single cache and close by another with that cache and another one to ??) in a stack.

Not much to worry about, When you get separation by zooming in it clears away... might happen if a false coordinate got too close at a tighter zoom as well, but we have few puzzles etc.

It just caught my eye when I was looking for the stacked cache display stuff mentioned (and I could see) earlier on this year.

Just thought I'd re comment... I'm happy. Still like to see PMOC on the map again at some zoom level. Right now we (basics) just have the address or coordinate searches to go by for saturation purposes.
