+Mastercacher & Geo"K"
Last year we vacationed at Disney and did some geocaching while there. We were amazed at how many caches were in the area. Now we wonder if anyone has ever heard of or tried a "geo-event", official or unofficial, centering on or involving Disney World Orlando? +ScoutingWV
Can't remember the actual URL, but I do recall a web site that had a pretty extensive listing of the benchmarks at Disney. I'm sure you could google it. You might be able to work them in to your event. Quote Link to comment
+The Leprechauns
If the event involved going into Disney World, or anything else requiring paid admission, then the way to go would be an "unofficial" event, rather than one listed on GC.com. +Colorado Cacher
Look for "Mouse Tales" also. Provides info about Hidden Mickeys, etc. Quote Link to comment
+Mastercacher & Geo"K"
Thank you everyone for responding. I know it's hard to place actual caches in the parks but I KNEW someone couldn't pass up the chance to do something at such a great place. I will continue to monitor and keeps sending hints, suggestions or links. Geo"K" Quote Link to comment

+AngelliFamily
We are planning a trip in August /September 2007 and I have also been looking for ideas. We are thinking of creating a "cache" of hidden mickeys/trivia/unusual or overlooked spots in and around the World. We have been there a few times and now look for other things to do than take pictures of the same old stuff. BTW we are in Elma, NY Edited January 4, 2007 by AngelliFamily Quote Link to comment

BTW we are in Elma, NY Your cache would not be published, and would just become more geo-litter. 1. It's a vacation cache. 2. It's a commercial cache because admission to the park is required. 3. Disney has specifically asked for all caches in the park to be removed, after a bomb scare when a fake cellphone cache was mistaken for something more sinister. 4. If you're describing a virtual cache, these are no longer published on Geocaching.com. Enjoy the caches outside the park, or try a fun Waymarking category like the Disney benchmarks. Waymarking inside the park is fine! Edited January 4, 2007 by Keystone Quote Link to comment

+AngelliFamily
"Your cache would not be published, and would just become more geo-litter." What is litter to one person is treasure to another. Sorry to have upset you so much. thanks for the warm welcome Quote Link to comment
+Rockin Roddy
Angelli Family...that really wasn't a "mean" post by our great mod...that was just a straight answer to what you "asked" in a way!! You are not allowed to place caches while on vacation because WHO would care for it?? Placing in Disney is not allowed as per Disney's request and the virtual is not an option anymore! It WOULD be geo-litter as it wouldn't be allowed, therefore it would be basic trash left behind!! You'll find MOST posters are friendly here...not all, but you MAY want to understand that a straight to the point answer doesn't always mean a "rude" answer. Quote Link to comment
+AngelliFamily
I was not asking about anything, I was certainly just mentioning an interest and responding to someone that had a like interest...and I do understand that an actual "Cache" can not be placed at Disney World, however, I was unaware that "virtual caches" were no longer allowed to be created or listed on geocaching.com since I am a new to this hobby. Since I saw them posted by others, I guessed them to be ok. I have since looked at ALL the rules and understand them completely I am certain that the moderator is a fine person, however, a more appropriate answer could have could have been "hey...we already thought of that and you can find it here.....The moderator should have known that I am new and should have been more welcoming. I didn't need to be scolded. Besides, i feel that a virtual cache would still be more fun than Waymarking. There is no challenge to getting your picture taken next to an icon and posting it for the world to see Intersting? yes, challenging, probably not. Something to figure out as a challenge puzzle as well as finding the coordinates are one of the reasons that my children became interested in this hobby. They love the hunt and the adventure and isn't that what this is all about? Heaven forbid that we are taking two things that we enjoy, disney and geocaching and trying to make our vacation a more memorable & educational event. Alot of people who vacation at Disney do not have transportation to go outside of the resort area to find geocaches and would enjoy the challenge of a virtual as evidenced by the virtuals that already exist for each park. Sorry to have upset you so much. thanks for the warm welcome I'm not upset at all. If I were upset, I would use smileys like this: Want to know "upset?" Ask the Florida cache reviewers for some examples of the hate mail they receive when someone submits a cache at Disney World. The cache owner goes through all the trouble of setting it up, only to see it denied for one or more of the reasons I listed. I wanted to help you avoid becoming upset by that surprise. I am glad to see that you've now read the listing guidelines. I then clued you in to Waymarking.com. Did you check that out? There is a category for Hidden Mickeys and another for Walt Disney World Benchmarks. There are lots more categories that may have target objects within a unique place like Disney World. With just those two categories, you have dozens of places to search for with your GPS. Good luck in your trip planning! Quote Link to comment
