Tulu is my regular caching partner, since getting a new DSLR last December she has also become my favorite subject. The most photographed dog in geocaching. LOL

My dog used to go out with me all the time, and she still enjoys being on a trail. If I spend too long looking for a cache, she will let me know. Her range is not what it was, but 2 1/2 years ago, our vet thought she would have just weeks to live. A couple of weeks ago, I took her on a three mile hike, up to a ridge and back down to a waterfall, checking my cache as long as we were there. This photo was taken a few years ago, on our way to a cache at one of the highest points in my area.

This morning we said goodbye to our companion. So this is for all the memories, including this visit to one of my caches at Dutchman's Rock. I never could get her to sniff out caches, but she served as a hiking partner, ready to take on rattlesnakes or lizards or stare down a coyote. If I spent too much time at a cache, she let me know when it was time to continue down the trail. And if I attempted to find a new route that proved to be impassable brambles, she told me when there was too much bush in bushwacking.

Our Auggie loves to go geocaching. He especially likes cemeteries where he can run around and play. I've tried to teach him to sniff out geocaches, but he chooses to leave that job to me.

This is Pearl. She's a 4+ year old deaf Australian Cattle Dog. She was a rescue from Guam. We adopted her in Washington through a rescue that fundraised to get her here. We were stationed there at the time and fell in love with her. She's been my sidekick and velcro dog through tons of underways when my husband is out to sea. Now my new cache companion as well

 

However, we also have another sidekick named Zeus!

Zeus is also another 4+ year old deaf Australian Cattle Dog. He was originally from Texas and was owned by another Navy family, whom I met in WA after I adopted Pearl. I actually adopted their fish first, lol. Later, after we were all stationed in CA, they had a baby and realized their baby was allergic to dogs. So, unfortunately, they needed to rehome both of their dogs. Deaf dogs really aren't sought after because of their handicap, so he was having a hard time finding a new home. I obviously felt my heartstrings being tugged because of Pearl, so I opted to adopt him from her. Pearl is hard to find friends for. Due to the conditions she lived in on the island, she grew up with no socialization and aggression (which we later found after we already adopted her). So, it was a slow process getting her to meet Zeus. We had to do several meet and greets, but everything worked out and now they are inseparable

Oh Geodarts - I'm so sorry

 

This is our 6yr old miniature poodle last year, on his first geocache. He's got a 'log my dog' tag coming - I'm quite looking forward to it!

Our littlest noonie (who's not so little anymore) walking Princess Zoe to the nearest cache. We took Zoe in after some neighbors (renters) abandoned her... she has turned into the BEST DOG EVER.

Ceres demonstrates that dogs aren't the only four legged friends that enjoy caching. This was her first find. I actually walked past the cache and she sniffed it out from its hiding place.

Bump.

 

I thought a thread to post pictures of your dog (I'm fine with any pet) out caching would be more popular but it's been 5 years... 

 

My best caching companion ever was Tulu. Sadly she passed unexpectedly in 2016. 

 

 

Our new dog Nigel is a wonderful dog but not nearly as good on the trail as Tulu. He'll chase anything and can't be trusted off leash at all.

I use my girls as my alibi to confuse muggles so it looks like I'm just walking the dogs and not in fact looking for Tupperware in the woods. Sienna is a 7 year old terrier lab mix and Nora the husky just turned a year old. Neither can be trusted off leash but they are both really good at sniffing out caches.
