Reactivating a missing travel bug

I had a travel bug that has gone missing (after 7 years!) and I logged in and marked it as "missing". I even sent the previous person that found it several notes, but to no avail. Well, lo and behold, the little TB has resurfaced after all these years and now I want to change the status, but the logs won't let me. Does anyone know how to "reactivate" a missing TB?

No need to "reactivate it". All a person has to do is log a grab or retrieval so it's placed in their Inventory then it's available to drop in a cache. Missing is just a virtual cache, as it were, in the sky. You can grab it any time since you know the tracking number but it's less messy if the person who has it does so.

There is nothing that you need to do. When the other cachers grabbed it, it was reactivated automatically.

I recently foun all of my travel bug copy tags that I had stowed away. Only one or two had a log within the last year or two. I made new pictures of the hot wheel or coin or whatever it was and am sending out about 25 with the copy so they can continue to travel. In my research of how they came to get lost, a few were in caches that got "washed away" or destroyed BUT most seemed to have been picked up by a newbie catcher with less than 20 finds and on a couple of TB retrievals! I also surmise that placing a hot wheel on the TB tag chain was a real enticement for kids of newbies as they understood kids could swap swag in larger caches! They either didn't know about travellers or didn't care as long as the kiddos were enjoying the outing thus a lost TB! So now we will see if they steal (or keep) the laminated picture on the end of the copy tag!
