Adding .gif to Cache description

I'm trying to add a .gif to a cache description. Is that supported. I have never tried, even in the old html format. I uploaded a .gif to my unpublished cache page and it isn't animated in the gallery.

I think images uploaded to geocaching.com get converted to JPEG, which of course, does not support animation.

 

But if you upload the image somewhere else, then you can display it on a cache description page here.

Animated GIF's stored on geocaching.com servers do animate just fine - provided you use the correct HTML.

 

All you need to do is omit

/large

from the image URL.

 

The two examples below are the same image file stored in the same location - the version with

/large

in the path you will notice doesn't animate - even though they are the same file.

 

I think it has something to do with Groundspeak using Cloudflare to enhance network resillience.
